Vortech sc-trim VS afr h/c/i

Dang dude, me and you have a lot of things in common. We both are named David and we both have green stangs, and I have a 2000 Ranger as a daily driver and you said you wanted one. We also had the same decision to make. I went with the blower, becuase anything you add down the line will give big gains.

You can go on Vortechs website and see what all comes in the SC-Trim kit. It came with everything but the bypass valve and pump, oh and the BTM.

Dave

And don't forget we both work for $5.15... :nice:

Yeah I noticed on here that we did have some things in common but they all came to light when you pointed them out...lol... :D

Tell me how that supercharger install goes...or atleast the results...alright :flag:

Not trying to steal the thread but what would be the best thing to do...

Put on SC Trim on a high mileage motor until it blows or gives way and then rebuild it, heads, cam, and all the other things...

or rebuild it, heads, cam, and all that other stuff....and then save up more money and later get the supercharger...

I would have something else to drive (Ranger)...and I think it would be easier just to put on a supercharger and get some power pretty quickly and rebuild it and all later....

What do you all think?

When building a n/a setup, you want components that keep velosity as well as have flow, want lots of compression, and a different kind of cam. Air is being pulled in the engine by the internals themselves. With a force inducted engine you want lower compression engine with really high flow, velosity isn't as important because air is being pushed into the motor by the blower.

A motor setup for a blower usually doesn't perform well without the blower, and an engine setup for naturally asparation won't see the gains from a blower that the F/I engine will.

Dave, have you installed the supercharger yet? I was making around 5 psi. I removed my GT40 to install my new Bennett Racing intake and found that the 3/8 inch hose going to the pvc valve was broke in two under the intake. I can't wait to see what kind of boost it makes with that big vacuum leak fixed. I would still like to install a power pipe sometime this summer. It will be later this summer before I put my 42lb injectors in due to I blowed my MAF money on some new quarter windows. Guess the injectors will have to set here on the shelve for a while. If I spend anymore money my wife might shoot me, lol. My vote for the guys question would have to go with the supercharger over the H/C/I. With the blower you will have normal drivability and power when you need it, plus you will keep your torque down low. I have H/C/I and the blower. With the H/C/I I lost low end torque and drivability. I wouldn't like it for a daily driver. Lopey cams and cruise control don't get along too well, car wants to chug under 2k rpm. I have put more miles on the car since installing the supercharger in October than I have in the last 3 years, so much fun now. I love being able to smoke the tires at a jab of the throttle while driving along at 55mph.

5spd gt, how many miles you got on your motor?

138k and no oil leaks...I'm not really to worried about damaging the motor because I would replace it and I would have another vehicle to drive (daily driven ranger)...

I am also in the same quandry over H/C/I or a SC setup. The differences in prices isn't that big of a deal for me, but I really want something that will last. For me the real question is "Which setup has more longevity to it?"

I've got a 90k motor that is totally stock. I'm a little concerned about putting aluminum heads on. I've heard talk that the Al and Iron expanding and contracting over time at different rates is going to cause you to rebuild that setup quite frequently. I don't want to keep having to replace a head gasket every year. Anyone have a Al head setup that has high miles on it that can give some opinions?

I'm leaning towards a GT40P head setup with Kenne Bell on top, but that Summit TFS set seems pretty sweet for the amount of money.

If you get a nice safe tune for that SC supercharger...it will take real good care of ya :nice:

No, I havent installed mine yet. I know its pitiful having it and not being able to install it.:fuss: I just wish it would get over 35 degrees outside. Even better would be a garage falling out of the sky right beside my house, then I would be truely happy.

I am going to triple check for vacuum leaks. I wanted to start on my install today but I friend wanted me to install some speakers for him, so I done that.
