Location and more information would help (ie-miles). But I would think that's around average, though you could probably get one for less.

Damn fine car, just like 5.0 except it gets better gas mileage.

I just bought one, an 89 2.3 auto. I bought the $500 one, lost out on the $1000 one that had a 5 speed, and working air, etc.

If every thing works, buy it as cheap as you can. I now have about $1100 in mine, but I have working overdrive, ac etc. Still needs tires, alignment, etc.

The automatic transmissions were crap, but can be replaced fairly cheaply (got mine for $750 from Roadmasters Transmissions in Schaumburg, IL - you'll have to pay for shipping / installation). The manuals are OK, don't break too easily. The engines are nearly unkillable. The rest is mostly just like every other Mustang, simple to the point of primitive, but also easy to work on. I have an '89 LX convertible, and I've had pretty good luck with it, but it only had 75,000 miles and was well maintained when I got it.
