Want to freshen up engine.

I am going to buy a kit from Summit Racing that comes with everything needed, but the timing chain. Total is about $320 for this kit and a timing chain. All I want to do is freshen up the engine. Not boring the cylinders or doing any mods. Keeping the stock cam and everything. Is there any extra money that I would have to spend on anything other than little things such as new vacuum lines?

If you have a local shop, you can have them clean the block and check the cylinder walls for taper. If everything checks out then put it back together... Good time to replace the oil pump, shaft, lifters, freeze plugs.

When you rebuild the motor you will definetly want some extra RTV, Vacuum line, a couple bandaids and a case of your favorite suds....
