want to get new heads.. but im on a budget any suggestions??

i am lookin to get heads for my car but im am kinda on a budget.. i was almost thinking of gettin the Gt40 heads or what ever they are off of a explorer im not even sure what years i can get those off of.. but i want to add a little more pep to my car.. so just throw me some suggestions thanks guys

How much are you willing to spend will determine what would be suggested.
<$500 go for GT40 or GT40P cast iron
<$800 Thumpers or Powerheads cast iron OR FRPP GT40 Y303 aluminum
>$900 AFR or TW or Edelbrock or FRPP X303 or FRPP Z303 aluminum

650ish in it.. what are the GT40 heads on? a friend of mine owns a junkyard and i can get parts cheap so im tryin to decided what route i can go..

The GT40s came stock on 93-95 Cobra Mustangs. I am not sure but I believe they also came on 5.0L Explorers and at some point later ('97?) were switched to GT40P which is the more desirable of the two.

97-01 explorer have the gt40p heads 96-older have the gt40's. I would go for the gt40p's and use the money saved to freshin up the heads i.e. springs, valve stem seals, and what not. $0.02

i have my gt 40 irons goin on now . they are windor heads off a 5.8. not sure exactly what car but they are off a 5.8 and they were $800 fully assembled with 1.7 cobra rockers
