Want to go 12's with current car

Hello, this question has probably been asked many times before but I am looking for some advice. I want to get into the high 12's with my current car, it is a 95 Gt automatic.
1. Keep the automatic, slightly build it up (shift kit, tune, converter) then add a used vortech s-trim
2. Swap in a t5, gt40 heads and gt40 intake with tfs 1 cam

Both are around the same price but my main question is option 1 capable of reaching high 12's

I dont see you being able to do it with untouched untouched gt40 heads and intake and cam. You would still need suspension and some weight off the car. And I am not sure what the stock trans can take but i dont think it will do too well.

I'm only a pair of higher-flowing heads (with 24lb injectors and tune) plus a higher stall torque converter away from running 12's without forced induction.

interesting. Im a full edelbrock HCI set up with full boltons and a t5 and have only been able to cut 12.4 with a 1.6 60ft. dying to see what it will do on spray though, lol

The auto with the S-trim will go faster. No doubt about it.

thanks guys, i've got another question. Is it worth it to swap in a 4r70w, or should I just keep my aode? Does the difference in gear ratios make that big of a difference?

Not being terribly knowledgeable about automatics, I don't think it would make a whole lot of difference. A properly built AOD will work great. Just make sure you get a good transmission. You can make 500rwhp, and it's still going to run 14.2 with a stock automatic.
