Wuz good people? Havn't been on Stangnet in a while but I have a quick question. My stang's paint job has seen better days. Years of Highway driving as well as a few fights with hard imoveable objects have left my poor car with more nicks, dents, and scratches than a 16 year old with severe acne. I've come to the conclusion that I might as well just repaint the entire car (trust me if you saw it you would understand). How much am I looking at spending? Thanks

I was quoted$2500 for a three stage candied paint (Lazer Red) with removing all moldings and lights/badges with all the little "dings" removed.

I know what everyone will say and I have seen 6 of their cars and all were better than factory, not full blown show but clean. $2500 is cheep, on average you will be around $3000-$4000 for a factory like finish

Hey Lazer, where in tx are you at and who quoted you on the paint.Im in TX also and will be looking to get mine repainted also.I wish Ii could get it some other color but I think thats gonna be too much.I understand that to get it another color they would have to do the jambs bottom inside trunk lid and the engine area, with that being said I was wondering on some things, since the car is black now and if I changed the color what would be anyones opinion if I didnt get the engine bay color changed(leave it black),just do the jambs and trunk lid area, how it it look?would it make it much cheaper?Just curious cuz black is alot of work and I like the looks of silver, blue, or grays better, maybe even a yellow and I dont even like yellow but it does look good on a stang and sorry to kinda get away from the 1st post but it could be useful to him to.

Also I was gonna start a need thread but here goes,a couple years back a drunk hit me a destroyed the door and fender(cllick my garage to see the pic),well I can now see that the insurance used salvaged panels to replace them with(is this normal for them to do?).from the looks under the door handles inside under the fender it looks as if they didnt even sand the original red paint down, hence I dont think the new blk paint is biting down reall good,is the normal way to have done it,if not would they even still be held rliable, just curiious.

I had him quote me on a few misc items and his price was lower than anyone that I asked locally (he lives on the other side of Houston from me). I know that he is in the process of or just relocated to a larger shop so his business is growing :nice:

You could send him an email and im sure he'd get back with you pretty quickly. You can view some of his work on that site as well.

I tried his email link but i get it returned...so I dunno.

Well this is the reply I got from them...not bad really.I will be checking with them when Im ready.

To do an entire repaint of the black, taking care of any minor dents and scratches, you would be in the area of $2800-$3,000. If you would like to do a color change then there is an additional $800 charge.

We only use PPG materials so no worries there. The car would be completely sanded with 220 grit sand paper and then it gets put in primer then completely blocked by hand. From that point it is put in a sealer and then the base/clear. Wet sand and buffing is also included in the price.

Silver, White, Yellow, really any light color is going to be pretty easy to keep clean other than the little black spots that will pop up. A friend of mine had a sonic blue cobra and it seemed like a pretty easy color to maintain. I also had a DSG Lightning that was was pretty easy too.

Thx for the info,Im thinking Sonic Blue with Black Bullits and the shaker hood. But cant decide if i wanna keep the gt front cover with chin spoiler or a cobra cover, and cobra skirts if they will fit,and the blackout between the tail lightsAny opinions on that idea.If im lucky I might do it this summer otherwise im doing it right after xmas.

You need to find a REALLY reputable shop. If you have to drive 4 hours to get there, do it. There's a difference between a "good" paint job and an awesome paint job. You'll most likely spend $3,000 or more.
