i only get around to washing the stang maybe once a week..if that, is it better to wash it in the sun or in the shade? im gonna give it a good wax sometime, and ill do that in my garage, but i was jw about a regular water and soap wash. also, should i let the sun dry it cuz thats what ive been doing. by the time i get done washing it off its almost dry anyways.

You should dry it with a towel. Otherwise you'll get water spots.

I don't think it matters to wash it in the sunlight as much as is does to wax it. I try not to wash in direct sunlight [dries before you're done like you said] so I don't get water spots.

Wash it in the shade and wipe it down good. Make sure you use a clean towel that has not been dropped on the floor. That dirt and sand will do a number on your paint.

It's impossible for me to wash my Mach in the shade. And the sun does dry out the water drops fairly quick, but the remedy I found was that I go around the whole car and wipe up all the big water drops with the microfiber towel. Then I wring it out, and go over any areas of water that did'nt get soaked up the first time around. Wring it out. Now your car will be 99% dry, and your microfiber towel will still be fairly moist. I go around the entire car again wiping over the whole car. Any single water spots you missed will be soaked up and any water spots will be cleaned up from the moisture of the towel going over it. The sun will dry the moisture of the towel on your paint in seconds. After you've gone over the entire car with the still moist towel, your car will be completely spotless. It works like a charm for me. And people walking by are doing this:

haha yea that's what i do...we have no trees in our yard or a garage for that matter so she's cleaned in the sun unless there's clouds out that day. i just completely dry my car with two towels...one to soak up the excess water and the other to completely dry it. i go panel by panel...and i use that first towel to go over it all even if it's dry just to get water spots off also. always works for me too..

i think most people walking by think i'm crazy though so they're not most girls don't spend 2-3 hours just cleaning their car.

It sucks. Strips wax way too quick. If you filtered your hose water, you'd have identical results about no water spotting.

yea well thanks for the input..ive been just lettin the sun dry it and yea..there are some spots but not too many so i usually go over them with some armour all wax real quick..anyways.. still looks real nice when im done..esp after not washing it for a few weeks
