About a month ago i installed new headlights from 50resto. Two weeks later there was a heavy rain and I had the car out. One of the headlights aquirred some water in it. Is there any way i can drain the water out without pulling the headlights out? Also what if any precautions can I take so I dont have the same problem again? Thanks

You're going to need to remove the headlight to fix the problem anyway.

Pull it out. Drain out the water and allow it to dry thoroughly. Run a thin bead of clear silicone all the way around the edge where the lense meets the body. Allow that to dry. Reinstall.

You're done.

I would stick with OEM Ford Headlights like you can get from PPI instead of the Aftermarket ones.

Drain and dry headlight, take them out

Buy this

Permatex Clear Flowable Silicone (Any Auto Store)

Squeeze it onto a Q-tip or your finger tip and spread it around the seal where the clear plastic of the headlight meets the back gray plastic of the headlight

Get a good coat on it and go all the way around.

Let it dry and then re-install headlights

(Did this to mine cause I had same problem when I got new lights and even when I spray the lights from every angle when washing the car water doesnt get in.)

Everyone who I have ever known that got new headlights I have told them to run some sealer around the lens.......It seems to cure most the problems. I have used electrical tape too and it did not work too bad.

Mine were OEM Ford and I thought I didn't need to do this.

I was wrong. The right one had a half inch of water in it the first time I washed the car.

Good luck sealing yours. I've resiliconed mine like a kazillion times and they still fill with water. Maybe the bulb isn't sealing correctly with the housing somehow?

(One year later, still not four eyed)

What about the one-piece headlights? Do those have these problems too?

Where are you guys saying to silicone? Right behind the weatherstripping where it looks like the assembly is pushed together?
