Water Ports dont match!!

From my experience the holes on the gasket are usually smaller than what the passages in the block/heads are. Did you save your old gaskets to compare? If not, go to an auto parts store that sells a different brand than what you have and compare theirs against what you have.

Each head gasket has a marking for "front" this means the gasket is placed so the frint is towards the front of the engine. Many of the hole do not match because there are many different castings for heads. What must match is the engine block and the heads.

there are not supposed to be holes in the gasket in that location, the idea is that the water pump pushes coolant through the block from front to rear, it then flows up into the cylinder head where is flows back to front into the front of the intake then out through the thermostat.
As someone mentioned there is a front and rear for the gasket, if installed incorrectly or if you drill holes in the gasket you will have SEVERE cooling issues
