I think based on the weight of your cat it would be 15-20 lbs would equal 1 hp

The general rule around here is 100 lbs. = .1 sec of a 1/4 mile ET. No HP, just seconds.

True! But, to add to this, if your talking about unsprung weight, it's 10 lbs = .1 sec in the 1320.

I think he realizes that it wont actually mean more HP, i think he wanted to know how much weight he would need to loose to equal (SOTP) 1 hp.

Like if you got rid of 20 lbs worth of junk, it would feel like you gained 1 HP.

It would be great if it really pand out like that,Road racing you will see more out of unsprung then you would the drag track.

Unsprung wieght is all the weight not supported by the suspension spings, and i think it might even cover the drivetrain as well. You could have an extremely light car, but if your flywheel weighs 200 lbs, driveshaft is made of lead, and you got some heavy ass 22" Spinnaz for rims then you arent going anywhere fast.

Here are a couple things (that i can think of):
Flywheel - Stock is steel, you can get alumium
Driveshaft - Stock is steel, you can get aluminum OR if you got $$ they have carbon fiber
Rims/Tires - Strong light weight rims would be the best choice here. But the stronger and lighter you go, the better.

I hope my information is accurate, if not i hope somebody corrects me, but you get the idea.

Yep, you've got the idea. Springs, shocks, control arms, A arms, sway bars, axles, wheels, tires, etc, etc, etc.

Ok so unsprung wieght truely is all the unsprung parts (all that you refered too).

I also refered to drivetrain wieghtloss then.

. . . so lets say my car does a 14 flat at the quarter, every time. . . thats as fast as I go. . . and I have done zero weight reductions

if I get aluminum driveshaft and aluminum flywheel could shave. . . maybe .1-.2 sec?

Remember, the flywheel stores energy. A lighter one will allow the motor to rev more freely, but it also will bog easily too. The above numbers/ratios are a guide...your performance will vary!
As far as general weight reduction is concerned, in reviewing this thread, I'd talk to Wayne S for some tips. When I first saw his mods (LTs, Xpipe, UDPs, and a K&N) then his time (12.85 @ 108 with 3.27s no less!), I went whoa! Then I saw his race weight...ahhhh, now I see the light. Awesome Wayne!!!
