Weird drivetrain sound

For the past couple of months i have noticed some weird noises from the underside. when traveling around 55 if i take my foot off the gas and get on it again it makes a loud noise. there is also some play there. seems as if something is loose. also if it shifts into OD any slower that 55 it makes that same "BANG". anyone have any hints?

i would get under and take a looksie. of particular note would be U joints (two of them) and making sure the DS to pumpkin bolts are tight.
