Hey guys, take a gander at this one. I just bought a Cobra R 2000 hood for my 92 fox. I was looking at the undersides of both hoods and I noticed my new hood doesn't have a spot for the little piece of metal that attaches to the right of the lock. I included pics so you guys can see for yourself. Does anyone know what that does? and do I need it? Give me some advice guys. Thanks in advance.

You know the bracket that the hook on the car goes in. the space you are talking about is the bolt that holds that bracket.

The piece on the right is a totally different piece. There is the bracket on the left, with the hook, that goes where the two bolts are shown on the new hood. I am concerned about if I need that piece that is on the right. It is a bendable piece of metal, that only has one bolt on the right hand side. I'm not really sure as to what its function is and if I really need it. I'm leaning toward that if they didn't put it on the hood, I don't need it, but I could be wrong

ok that long peice is for the latch to grab. on the fiberglass hood there is a little plate riveted on that the latch catches on. ie you dont need it so dont worry

That's the same setup as my hood. Didn't think I needed it due to the hood pins.

I believe it acts as a spring/tensioner. I think it helps to keep pressure on the latch so it doesn't fly up when you are driving. It also helps pop the hood up when you pull the handle in the car. to help keep constant pressure on mine(without that piece) I simply adjusted the rubber bumpers that the hood rests on. Hope that makes sense
