Weird noise..........?

Sounds like a rubbing noise from under the hood.Does it intermtantly(sp),but seems to do it at low speeds with the car in a pull,not bogging though.Doesnt do it at idle,or revving the motor while in neutral.I've already eleminated the tranny and clutch.It also changes pitch a little if you stab the throttle while its doing it.I think its the same sound it made after my car sat for a month when I cranked it up.....distributor,but I cant really remember.Anyone have this experience before?

check your belts. let the car run and get your ear real close to the engine to try and find the area. eliminate some possiblities. you gotta narrow it down for us.

it wont make the noice just sittin and idling......only when driving and in a pull at low speeds(mostly when I go to 2nd gear).....like I said I've done elimianted the trans. and clutch......friend said he believes its one of the pullies......

it could be the balancer. Although, mine had a slight knock at idle, but it could never hurt to take a look at it

dont know if its related to the noise,but car cuts out bad above 3000rpms.....what are the signs of a fuel pump going out?

signs of a bad fuel pump are it whining really loud (stock whines a little but when its on its way out it gets louder), if it takes a while for your car to start. it could also cause pinging

the fuel pump is kinda loud but no louder than any of my buddies stangs....and the car starts fine and has no pinging issues....gonna pull the dist. tomorrow and see whats up......hopefully I'll find the culprit...

also today after the short sprint to 4000rpms when i noticed the miss (first time I wound it that tight since the noise started)....it doesnt idle right anymore,sounds like its got a cam in it now(real "lopey")....and seems to be down on power.....like 20-30hp....

found the gremlin......distributor is shot....you can take hold of the rotor and move it back and forth about a 1/2".......

Weird noise..........?
