Well I did it. Yesterday I succesfully rebuilt my T-5 and I couldnt be more happy with it. I replaced all synchro's some bearings, 1st gear sleeve/bearing support, and first gear. (Pretty badly damaged and chewed up. But now its like a brand new trans. And I would like to thank the two ppl who gave me the .pdf files to do it:D . Not too hard at all, just time consuming. I will be sure to post up some pics of the damage tomorrow.

Its actually pretty easy if your organized and once you get over the fact that your going to have **** everywhere so I recoment a nice sized table completly clear. GreenGT I will send it now. Check it about 5 minutes after this post.

How long did it take you?

How much did you invest (total)?

any specialty tools required?

That is awesome... I will do this when my trans gets a little worse, for now I am making it live by frequent fluid changes.

Alltogether, just under $200 much better than just buying a used one, that who knows if it would need rebuilding anyway. But it took about 8 hours only because we ran into trouble when I found out I needed to replace first gear, first gear bearings, and first gear bearing sleeve and first gear detents. Alltogether though if you replace synchros only and seals you should be at about $120 and clean all the bearings very well and you will be great. Just need a gear puller as far as special tools go, and you should be fine.

hey sorry to ask this of you again but lets face facts t-5's will always need to be rebuilt sometime and mine will be 2morrow if you could please send me that pdf file i would really appreciate it...thank you

I used the stock gearset just with better bearings and Kevlar lined synchro rings. Has been taking a beating ever since to (knock on wood) has seen about no kidding 80 track passes with hard launches. Still shifts ever so beautifully.
