I've gone 3 times this week. Sat.,Wed.,Thurs. I finally found out what was wrong with my dang car. It was extremely lean. It just never showed any signs, missing, detonating, not even on the bottle. I figured it out on wed. at the 1/8 mi track.
I made my first pass and ran a 7.91 @88.68. Wow I thought. I jetted it more. 7.84 @88.48. "Well if it liked that, it's sure to love this." I jetted it up again and ran 7.77@88.22. Thought it was kinda strange that I was losing MPH but going faster. Ideas ? I knew that I would have to fight to drive all the way to the 1/4 the very next night. she was pissed, but what could I do? I mean I just dropped 2 bloody tens in the 1/8. I had to see what it would do right?
So I get home, don't change out of my work clothes, rent a trailer and drag my happy ass down south 1 and a half hrs at 90 mph. Now they start at 6 pm so I'm already 2 and a half hrs. late as it is. I get there and just as I get the car down I get to see a bloody pro mod guy go flying by at 150mph shooting off his go-go gadget smoke screen. He oiled the track from about the 800 ft. mark. Needless to say clean up took a little while. 8:30 Hey I might get in a run tonight. First pass was 1.79 60, 7.99 1/8 and 12.46 @107. Theres the mph I was looking for. That's a little better. It ran a better ET only because of the mph. But were is the 7.7 monster I had last night. I tried one nitrous run only to break something. I thought I was a detonating at first then I turned off the motor. " So this is what it feels like to throw a rod!! This sux!!" But I turn off the motor at it is still going. That is a good sign I guess. I get to the end of the track and the car fires and I get it on the trailer. Once the my blood pressure returns to normal I begin to remember that I think it came from the rear like the driveshaft. It ran a whopping 12.4 @63 mph. I couldn't get a timeslip beacuse the "kid" at the other end threw it away. And since I was the very last to run, it was time for him to go home and he didn't look for the timeslip. I always have the worst luck at the 1/4 mi.
