We're really not allowed to clean the throttle body?

I would have without a doubt sprayed this down with cleaner, were it not for the sticker on the throttle body that plainly states: "Do not clean inside throttle body. Special coating on throttle plate and bore."

Anybody have details on this? Hard to believe that any damage done to the coating would be worse than this gunk!

Thanks. I cleaned it anyway. I even removed the metal plates to do it. Not worried about it.

It’s easy to access if it exhibits problems.
