What a day... :( poor mustang

you were complaining about gas a month ago and now you are looking at an explorer? I cant think of many vehicles that get worse mileage than them.

No kidding. My 98 explorer had a 4.0 and it was horrible on gas. On highway the best it ever got was 19 mpg

If you are getting 10-12 mpg there is either something wrong with your car OR you could be driving like an a$$ which might explain how you got into an accident. The fact that you have only been driving a few months (not to mention the videos you post of burnouts) makes your story even less believable to me.

In the end it might infact be the lady's fault BUT if you were speeding that could have prevented you from being to avoid to the accident in the first place. It's good to see however that you were not seriously injured.

listen up ****er....this was 100% her fault. she failed to yeild. the case has been settled and my check has been cut...i was on my way to ****ing school..do you seriously think im in that much of a ****ing hurry to get to school!!!!! i was drving down the road then boom shes just there. and then boom.. there gose 12 month worth of work. i wasent speeding either. skid marks to prove it. officer even checked the marks (measured) 27 mph in a 25 mph.. oh boy i was hauling ass wasent i!!!!!!

geeze Ryan. Why do you let people get you all worked up? The fact that her insurance paid you, proves it wasnt your fault. Dont let people push your buttons just to get a rise out of you.

Damn Ryan, that sucks. :(

I agree on fixing it though. You could have it equal to the condition it was pre-accident, fix the rust, and probably still have at least $1500 in your pocket to do whatever you want with it. You do need to go to the doctor though. Don't let their insurance try to trip you up over refusing treatment on the scene. Adrenaline is the absolute best painkiller there is. My best friend and I were driving in the snow one day and started sliding in the snow, into the rear end of a parked car. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt, jammed his wrist in the steering wheel, and felt fine in a couple of days. I was wearing mine, and going from 40-0 isn't very easy on the body. That happened in February of 2001. My neck still hurts to this day. Go to the doctor.

Ive ownd 4 explorers, dont buy a 1998 or 2002, both had tons of problems. The V6 explorer get about 3 mpg better than the 8. If an explorer has over 100K ask what transmission there on, if they say #1 dont buy it. thats the weakest part.

DO not buy a 2002 !

I also have had many explorers. My 99 had close to 100,000 when I got rid of it. 4.0 xlt awd minor problems. headlight switch, tps sensor and a/c clutch. my 2002 4.0 xlt awd had 15,000 no issues before getting totalled buy an azzhat. my 2003 eddie buaer V8 awd had the rear wheel bearing issue(they are known for like the 02's), starter went and no tranny problems(lucky) had 85,000 miles when traded in.

the tranny in ? is the 5R55 and the problem is in the valve body. it's also a hit or miss deal.

My 2006 limited V8 has had 0 problems and has 38,000 +or-. having had 2 V6's and 2 V8's I have noticed no real major differance in the gas mileage between the 2 other than they suck. the 2006 is by far the best explorer yet though fit&finish.

What a luck your 2002 got totaled they didnt have the rear independant suspension figured out, I went through 4 of them before they would not replace them anymore. Also went through 2 trans's before 100k, it was a V8. Now I have an 04 eddie bauer V8 baught it in Oct with 30k now it has about 64k on it and I havnt' had any issues yet.
I would never buy another splorer unless it was V8 there is just no resale and no value in a V6. It would be smart to buy a 96 or 97 V8 that way when you total it you can at least use the Heads for you mustang

4 holy crap. Yeah mine got stuffed in the rear, I mean stuffed. hit by a lady talking on her cell phone coming off a ramp following a little bit behind me. I had to yield for traffic guess she thought she didn't. I liek the 96-97 idea, don't forget about the intake also :nice: .

back on topic..sorry ryan.

WOW dude...haven been on here lately....really sucks to hear. Hope you get somethin nice in the end!

yupp pretty much. i got a ncie truck though so its a little better...im still going to miss the mustang.

its 2000 ford explorer sport. blue/grey exterior, grey cloth interior 112,991 miles on it runs perfect shifts smooth i got on it and kicked the rear out so its got some pep to it has a few door dings and paint scuffs and whoever had it before backed into a pole so ill put a new bumper on it then re paint it later on down the road. drives so smooth though. better then the ranger and our escape, right now i got a 08 altima to drive for 9 days :D free rental ftw.

here is a pick. i put a deposite on it today and ill go get it tuesday or wensday. :)

i like it.
