Suspension What about these Subframes

Wondering if they should be fine to use? My car is just a weekend mostly driving street car, no track and it gets driven normal more than I dawg my cars but I do have fun with them from time to time. Building a 331 stroker now for it and with my combo expecting somewhere around 330 to 360 whp.

The price at $85 is right vs the $140 I spent on the I believe Sve ones I put on the 94 back in around '21 '22 and they look the same lol..

Ok the Sve's say 1"x2" and I can't imagine they'll be thinner than 1" lol but I'm going to send the ebay seller a message.

I meant the wall thickness. I'd imagine that the tubes themselves are probably identical - or close to it - but they may not help as much if they're too thin. OTOH, they'll probably be fine for your application regardless, and I'd guess that they'd be better than nothing at all.

Yeah, there is no mention of the construction of those thing whatsoever. For all we know, it's 3D printed ABS. lol


On a side note:
Never really understood why sub-frame connectors weren't made from chrome moly. It's perfect for this. Never even seen a set in moly, that I can recall. WTH?

I will definitely see if he replies with anything about them and if not I might just air on the side of caution and spend the $140 lol. But I don't want to if they are pretty much the same thing. I defintely want to find that out though.....

And that's the only thing the dudes here are worried about. It's rolling the dice on Brand-X stuff and we don't want to see you end up with some foil tape for rigidity. hehe

As for adjustalble fP regulators I might try the Sve from LMR. I do have a billet one I bought back in around 03 04 and it's still going. I'll probbly try the Sve @ $144.

thought about BBK but read some reviews on amazon about some leaking so not sure.

I can't offer you much in this area. I'm sorta... anti-adjustable FPR. OEM and done. Back the day when so many of use were trying "cheat" the fuel system, it made sense. With today's tuning options... Not so much.

yeah my research last year I believe I was reading where a lot of guys were saying they weren't really necessary. I did call the tuner to see what he though and he said it won't hurt to have. So I guess I'll just get one just in case he wants to play with the pressure..

The ad does say that they're made of steel, but doesn't list wall thickness or tube dimensions. I think - if it were me - I'd shoot that shot. I think they're probably fine for a daily type build. If all else fails, you can compare them to the older SVE set you have (if you still have them that is....).

A dude on Youtube not long ago, was completely rebuilding a Kenne Bell for a Windsor (hairy job to say the least).
Anywho, I commented early in his project that only an OEM would fit in that kit (he had a Kirban he was planning to use).
A couple months later, new video [short] showing how the Kirban and 3 or 4 other regulators he'd ordered, wouldn't fit. LoL (Ah, well...)

SVE (LMR) - 1"x 2" Steel Construction, noodled around and found the wall thickness is 0.0625"
Steeda - 1.5" x 2.0" x 0.083"
Kenny Brown - 1.5" x 2.0" x 0.083" mild steel
UPR - 1.25" x 2.0" x 0.083"

Another option is Global West (I have them on both cars) which are made from 1.625" x 0.125" wall DOM tubing. Round tube resists torsional forces better than square or rectangular tube and they install to the side of the factory subframes which increases ground clearance. They offer seat braces (I have them) as well as rocker rails (should be used with a vert) and also offer competition series which is like the Kenny Brown extreme matrix setup.

Anyhow, I would pass on the SVE's as the thinner the wall thickness the less torsional force they can resist compared to a thicker wall unit. Any of the other ones are going to do you a good job.

Yeah they are on my 94 Cobra and can compare; would just have to get under the car but wouldn't be able to see inside the tubes heheheee

I'd think if they were not so good pieces they might not want to foot the bill but you never know. I might take a chance to at least see what the quality is like.
