What Air Impact Gun Ya'll Like?

I'm looking for a new impact gun and was wondering what is supposed to be a good one? I have the crap one that came with the compressor from Home Depot.... it won't break any bolts on it's own.... I have to loosen everything first before it will do anything... anyways, what are you guys using and what's an approximate cost? Thanks.

I have a craftsman professional impact no issues it was cheaper than others I was looking at. Ingersoll Rand makes some of the best stuff just a little out of my price range.

I have the El cheapo craftsman, it does alright. I have used one of the nicer craftsman, and it works pretty dang good. I have also used the snap-on......it was awesome.

dewalt 120v corded electric, best $120 i've ever spent. i've used it on just about every project i've done at least once (usually more when suspension is involved) and its never struggled, and i dont have to have a large compressor. also alot more portable if you gotta go help a buddy out.

I bought one from Harbor Freight about 20 or 25 years ago, it is actually of decent quality compared to what they sell today.

My 1/2" is a Cornwell/Ingersol Rand, my 3/8" is Snap-On.

I use impacts almost daily at work. With them you truly get what you pay for. You can buy a cheap impact but you are going to find bolts it won't break loose. We use IR at work and the only thing I've seen rival them is cleco, which you don't want to price. When you shop for them, read the specs. They will tell you how many ft lbs the tool will put out. I dont remember the model of my IR but it puts out more ft lbs than you can pull with a 3ft breakover. And they last forever if you oil them. Spend the money once. My .02.

Im rocking a pawn shop special I bought back when I only had a couple nickels to rub together. I believe it's an IR, does the job perfectly.

I'm a technician at a Toyota Dealership, so mine gets used daily. I obviously needed something that would last, but also the strongest gun I could get. Especially when we're replacing frames in the trucks.

Snap On air tools are typically made by Sioux, which is one of the best air tool manufacturers. Sioux and Snap On are part of the same parent corporation.

Do you have trouble with that much torque, even in burst lengths of time, hurting your wrist?

No.. I guess it's the hammering action of the impact that delivers that torque value.. it's not hard to handle. You do have to be mindful of it and don't keep it turned up though. It will break lug studs if you don't pay attn.

3/8" & 1/2" Snap on. Pricey but they work superb, only $125 for a rebuild when it gets sloppy.
