I had an overheating issue that resulted in detonation and a blown head gasket. I nursed it home, bout 1/2 mile and will be replacing the head gaskets this weekend.

I was wondering what the chances are of a cracked head as a result of this?

The heads are Iron E7 Powerheads on an Stock block.

I know aluminum heads may be more prone to warping and cracking, what what are the chances with my iron heads?

Will I be ok, just cleaning the surfaces and bolting it all back together?

I was using Felpro 1011-1's will be replacing with Felpro 9333-pt1's and reusing my ARP head bolts.

Thanks.

They might or might not be damaged; I've blown head gaskets and my heads weren't damaged.

You should take the heads to a machine shop and get them cleaned up and inspected for damage. It'll prob. cost around $25-40 to have them hot tanked (cleaned up) and inspected.

I got mine cleaned up, valve seals and a 3-angle valve job for $100.

I second taking it to a machine shop, they will be able to find any cracks and clean them up. Also, I was under the impression that head bolts can't be reused because they stretch out once you torque them??

Stock head bolts are torque to yield and should not be reused. The ARP bolts are safe to use over. Guess I'll just take em to a machine shop and get em magged for safety.
