What are the sensors on the air intake?

I know one is the mass air flow sensor and the other Im not sure, what exactly do they do, and can I bypass both of them somehow, they seem to just be thermistors, is there a way to trick the sensors, or can i just completely remove them?

Also can I take out the enitre cold air intake tube, and put the filter directly on the throttle body?

I stuck in an extra battery and put it in the way of the cold air intake, so now I have to tweak the system and cram it all into a small space. I can leave the sensors on, but I just wanted to avoid modifying the intake tube to accomodate the new length and sensors and all.

no you cant remove the sensors. your IAT sensor changes timing in relation to the inlet air temps to keep your engine from spark knocking and without your MAF your car will not run b/c it will not know how much air is going in to the engine. for the sake of your car, FORGET removing these sensors. your car may run with no oil too, but it wont last long

why would you want to put your air filter on the TB?!?!?!

You can actually run with the filter on the TB, but you'll need an aftermarket PCM of some sort - like FAST (Fuel Air Spark Technology - Google for it...actually, don't waste your time cause you cant afford it and wont do it. WAY to complex for a low budget daily driver like I'd believe yours to be. Just leave it alone.)

why do you need an extra battery?!?!?!

you should look into a battery relocation kit if you MUST run 2 batteries.

i agree tottaly with all thats been said,

i have a trunk mounted 2nd battery for my big ol stereo and it works great. you can also jumpstart people from either end of the car lol
