My favorite is the Saleen Focus.
Just kidding. I've always been an admirer of the 99-04 models, but I think liking a car has a huge deal to do with personal life experience, and timing.
In 1999, I was working at a convention in Modesto and I saw two brand spankin new Saleens parked side by side in a tent. I think they were from Napa Ford which is a Saleen dealer. The cars were a 1999 S351 and a S281SC speedster. Both cars were laser red. I owned a '96 cobra vert at the time. I didn't know jack***** about Saleen at the time other than they were even more rare and more expensive than my Cobra.
That day left a major impression on me. I still think about it. I even remember the way the cars were parked. I remember thinking to myself "Now that's a real sports car."
Stuff like that effects your interpretation of the looks of a vehicle.
Likewise, when I was a kid, my dad came home one day in a brand new 1984 Vette. To this day, I remember seeing the shiny red car roll down the block.
I like the new Saleen as well, but I think it looks way more impressive in person.
There's a guy around here with a mineral grey 06 SC, I really think the car looks good. For some reason pictures just don't do the car justice.
I've pondered upgrading to the new body style several times, but I always go back to the 99-04 bodystyle. One major drawback IMO is the retro interior. I don't like it. Every American sports car is jumping on the retro bandwagon (with the exception of the Vette and the Viper) which is somewhat annoying. I do like some of the outside styling on the 05+, especially the fact the car looks great with ralley stripes (the only obvious problem is that who in their right mind would slap a set of 10 inch 3M stripes on their brand new 50k+ Saleen).
Anyways, to each his own. All of the bodystyles are unique in their own way and should be appreciated as such.
