what components are most stressed when launching hard?

reason i ask is im thinking about getting a set of slicks now that i'll have a 31 spline rearend. what other parts are under stress from sub 1.8 60' times? clutch i know from dumpig it, but it wears more from slipping rather than dumping. what else? is the tranny effected a lot? thanks for the input everyone
 
The entire drivetrain is put under stress... clutch, tranny, driveshaft. The other thing I'd put into consideration if you plan on alot of hard lauches is strengthening your upper and lower torque boxes and possibly subframe connectors. You can buy kits that contain both parts.

My brother-in-law, has countless launches with slicks and has yet to break something. He still has the stock trans, axles, and rear end. He is cutting like 1.6 60ft times spraying out of the hole. His car launches like a pro-mod it's unreal!
 
The entire driveline is stressed, but I will add that with steeper gears, that stress is shifted more to components after the diff due to th torque multiplication. Meaning if you are running 3.27's on slicks you will have more stress on the tranny and less on the axles. If you are running 4.10's you will have more stress on the axles, less on the tranny.

i keep hearing this, but what exactly does it involve? im assuming that they are just tach welded from the factory and i need to get them welded completely? where are the axle tubes welded (im assuming at the pumpkin?) and where are the torque boxes?

the shinny parts are the welds but you can get an idea of what it is

your axel tubes are plug welded stock and can spin. basically you run a bead around the tube and the center section.

weld 4 beads 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 9 o'clock. then come back and finish the weld this will help with warpage issues.

the torque boxes are just like shown above. you control arm choice and minimize this. if you run spherical bearing front and rear it will not bind and stess the torque box less.
