what could be making my motor knock

sounds like a spark knock. been going on for awhile. put good gas in. only has 35000 miles on it. sounds like a spark knock but who knows. took out the computer chip. its throwing no codes. somebody told me it sounds like a rod but i cant believe that because low miles and ive always run mobile 1 full synthetic in it.

That's not descriptive enough. When does it knock? under full load?

If you mostly hear it when the engine is hot, around 1500-2500rpm and at light loads, it is very possible it is rod knock.

Rod knock would be rhythmic with the RPM's. Detonation would be random...almost like marbles rolling around in a tin can.
