What crate engine?

If you've order a crate engine from any of those listed below let us know your thoughts on the quality, power and value below. Keithcraft, dndmotorsports, chp, dss,Bennet Racing, imb perfomance. All these people sell crate engines with IMB Performance selling the most complete turn key engine. Have any of you bought from any of these builders and what are you thoughts?

If you plan on any power from 650hp and below buy from DSS. They really put time and skill into their motors. I just got my short block from them about 2 weeks ago and it's built with complete detail. If you are planning higher then 650hp go with a Dart block or try to track down an A4 block.

a crate motor is something from the factory that is made in bulk like the gt40 motor. the dss and chp and so on are built up motors. big difference

More and more aftermarket engine builders and building crate motors! Pre assembled motors built to specs like a ford racing crate engine to take the guesswork out or what people are getting and the resultant horsepower! If their was such a big difference why would CHP and DSS have crate engine links on their website??? You missed the point of this post although i apperciate your comments! If you've bought an engine from any of these people and can tell the rest of us your thoughts about it please chime in!

Keith Craft sells a crate engine 306 with 375hp/trq but lacks fuel rails and distributor for 5295 plus shipping. IMB sells basically the same thing with RPM II intake and AFR 185's plus fuel rails, injectors ready to drop in for 5500. My question is if they're any good. How reliable are they? Quality? It's one thing to read about them in a magazine when they've been specially prepped for the article. However, I wanna know what you, I and every other person can buy. Some of these engines come with warranties but others don't. Central Coast Mustang sells a 302 crate engine with high compression and GT-40x heads for 2895.00. Which is around 289rwhp.

I've got a DSS 306 Longblock in my stang, and I am really happy with it. It's got almost 30k on it, and it still pulls like it did at 2k. It's got trick flow twisted wedge heads on it, and all assembled long block for 4 G's. With a good intake and supporting parts, 300 hp is no problem. This winter, I'm goin to supercharge it, and it should take the power w/ no problem. DSS would be a good choice.

Keith Craft is about an hour from my house. I hear nothing but great things about them. Arkadelphia, AR is a small one horse town. If you know about them, they must be doing something right!!!

As I do NOT have a KC motor yet. Here is a link to a guy that does.
