I'm a turbo guy, but there is no "better." There's just what you like more. There are plenty of badass blower and hairdryer combos out there.

To the person that ask if there is alot of rich kids around my neighboorhood no i just work at a chevy dealership and i am sick and tired of these ZO6 owners thing that there **** dont stink. So back to the qustion, would it be better with a turbo or a supercharger. i know turbos has the top end that i need but the supercharger has the low end torque.

Wow, I couldn't work there, what with the running pony tattoo on my left arm. And the proper response to the Z06, or any Corvette person, isn't a huge outlay of $, its as simple as, "I like the Viper, myself." Really put their panties in a bunch. Even if you don't like the Viper, always fun to stir the pot.

so a turbo would be better for top end than superchager?

A turbo is gonna be more efficient than a blower anyday.

The first thing your gonna need is a dart block

I perfer the turbo myself, coming from someone who has had both. Turbos don't just have top end btw. Take a stroll over to theturboforums.com, look around there. Blowers are cool also though.

This is going to be the next generation of hot rod... The fox mustang could be one of the best platforms to start a project car, and the LS motor is one of best engineered motors to come out in the last 25 years.

Foxes with LS1's are gonna be this generations 32' ford with a SBC. Its evolution.

It's actually kinda the other way around. It may take a second for the turbo to come on but when it does they make HUGE torque.

If you size a turbo right for your combination it will have the torque if a roots blower and the top end of a centrifugal supercharger. There are lots of turbo motors that make full boost by 3500 rpms and carry the tq curve almost all the way to redline. There is nothing like a turbo car that is built correctly. Turbos kick ass.

The problem with a supercharger is that its driven by a crank pulley, and with a supercharger it takes power to make power, but with a turbo you are recycling wasted energy(exhaust) to make power. Superchargers always have a parasitic loss and are generally harder on parts than a turbo motor.

Bottom line, if you want to beat a Z06 in 1320 ft without breaking your bank, build a 331/347, stock block with a 100 shot on it, your not gonna walk on a Z06, but it will geive you a fighting chance. If you build a blower/turbo motor you are gonna spend an easy 15,000 if you do it the right way.

I said what i said to get a rise out of people. Like someone said your dealing with cars that are many many years apart. If you look at a similar comparision, compare a 88 camaro z28 to a 2002 z28, the 2002 will stomp it so bad. Thats because of technology, well update the tech on a fox, put a cobra motor and trans in it. Then throw a 9inch out back, do a little suspension work, and you will "walk" anything you want. Or if you want to keep it a 5.0, go with a dart block and a huge procharger or a set of twins, that will make you plenty of power. but the main thing is your comparing apples to oranges.

One question... How is GM cookie cutter over Ford? Ford went with Modular motors so they could use parts across their brands and models. How is that any different than GM using an LSX based motor in their line up?

I am not brand loyal, and seeing someone who is (now if your being paid by Ford to only run Ford then I guess its ok) makes me question why? Your limiting yourself if you only shop for one brand of car!

Actually they are "modular" so that manufacturing can quickly and easily change tooling to produce different engines within the same factory, not so that the engine parts themselves are interchangeable. But I do agree with you here, any Ford guy who attacks GM for using its LS motors across the board is forgetting that Ford uses its Mod motors across the board, too. Hell, even our old 5.0 uses the same basic long block design that's been around since the 60s. Its just cost-effective manufacturing, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Its just a vice I've had for as long as I can remember. Even before I was old enough to drive, before I even knew what a distributor did, I knew that the "cool" Ford deuces at car shows had the distributor at the front of the engine, not the back.

I can see this thread going 10 pages if it doesn't get locked. My comment and picture on my engine was pure joking. I was in a good mood yesterday, and just playing around. You guys all know that I love fox bodies. You've all seen my progress threads.

To beat a Z06.....chit....my friend used a STOCK STOCK STOCK 160,000 miles shortblock, HCI, blower, 14psi, race gas, 5 speed car and it laid down 520RWHP. He SMOKES just about any car.

I don't mind talk about putting a mod motor in a Fox.

I just wouldn't want to have to change the spark plugs...

But yea, these kinds of threads are pretty much doomed from the start, like in middle school when you get in arguments over Ferraris and Lamborghinis. Its almost completely meaningless. That and I'm no good at holding my tongue.

I agree with you on that one....that's another reason why I didn't even give my serious response until my above post that you quoted.

It's a losing arguement. Who really cares anyways. If some dope has 75K to drop on a Z06, cool....good for him/her. Fox fans are real, they're true and will never be able to be pulled from them no matter how much money they have or don't have into them.

Just because I don't have one doesn't mean I'm done with them. I'm in the business of buying and selling parts, so I can easily find another body and build.

A 2008 ZR1 would do the job quite nicely. Or 2009, whatever year they are.

I’m with fast on this one. A cheap h/c/I setup with nitrous or a turbo shouldn’t be much of a problem. With a turbo, you get the added benefit of running 3.27’s and keeping the RPM at a respectable level. It will be better with fuel economy….and give you a longer ratio for longer 4th gear pulls. If you can get your trap speed up to the 130 +/- range (which shouldn’t be too difficult with mild boost levels), you're average stock Z06 shouldn’t be much of a problem from a stop or a roll.

I can agree with that....a stock z06 at mentioned above has gone high 10's on drag radials but they also trap 127-129 STOCK. They can't have quite the suspension set up as a foxbody can either being they have the IRS. It's much easier to get a built fox out of the hole than a built vette...given off the shelf suspension parts.

That's a good point too. Low gearing, with big boost. I had a HCI 13psi Procharged 95GT vert with a 5spd and a 3.08. 60MPH and 2nd gear drop...BUUHBYE!!! Can't imagine with 15-16 psi in a lighter fox.

Well, You could buy a 03' Cobra motor and put it in with the full exhaust and chip and pullie its and easy 500rwhp given the right tune. You could do the same with a Lightning motor which I want to do. I've seen a Z06 get beat six times in arow by a procharged Mach 1. The Mach hac 470rwhp and 315 drag radials. While the Z06 had 440rwhp and the stock sticky tires. The Mach ran 8.00s in the 1/8th and the Z06 8.10s. Mach had 2.2xx 60 foot times and the Z06 had 2.3xxs. Bottom line is traction is key beat him down low cause there isn't anyway to beat him on the top end.

You mind rephrasing that last part? Z06s are cool, but my fox would eat a factory Z06 for lunch down low or all the way through the top end.

500rwhp would be enough to tear up a Z06 up top.
