What do I need to bring to a smog check?

So, im not exactly the legal owner of this car yet. Ive paid my bud for it, but legally, its not mine. (Bought it from him for 600 bucks since it was hurting)

We still need to transfer the title still and it needs to be smogged to transfer registration. Am I going to be able to take this in myself? Id imagine the shops wouldnt really care as long as they get paid.

What state are you in??

Here in NYC you need to insure and register your car. And if it needs to get inspected they give you a temp sticker-10 days I think and you need to have it inspected before it expires.

Shops here will not inspect it unless it is registered and insured.

Sorry, im in CA. Guess ill have to do the transfer of title first so I can get it insured under my name. Ok, this will take a few more days then. Thanks!

So I think that CA and NY have the same emissions. Which is strict as can be, I think CA may be just alittle tougher. So make sure it is running well and have cats on it.

Insure/register and go have it smogged. Good luck with it

Ive been working on the bucket for about a month now. All new sensors, New Magnaflow Catted H pipe, checked everything. Its running pretty decent now, should pass no problem.
