I have a 94 gt 5 speed, with hurst shifter, mac cold air, 355 gears, march underdrive pulleys, bbk offroad h pipe, flowmasters, and timing advanced, What more do i need to run 13s. I dont really want to take my car to the track and still be in the 14s. If i get my lower intake ported, and shorty headers, How close will i be.

Reaction times have nothing to do with your 1/4 mile times.

i thought the time started countin as soon as the light turns green, i think thats right, cause it bracket racing, whoever gets closer to there dial in time wins, and if u have a horrible reaction time, then u get closer away from ure dial in

First off, I think this should be moved to talk.

I don't know about that. On what basis do you make this claim?

If he put in a new intake manifold the power would definately be there. Its really a must have with the gears mod. In terms of removing your two biggest bottle necks, the stock cats and the stock intake are where its at. With a 3.55 screw, his engine wants to rev higher but that stock intake kills it. Everything has to work together.

Also, consider instead of being able to cross the line at the top of 3rd gear with the stock stuff, he probably has to shift into 4th right before, which is costing him by making him shift at the finish line, but not being able to really "enjoy" that shifts use of the power band. 3.55s are not a good drag gear at all, so he has to overcome that.

I don't know enough about porting to give an educated response on that.

But supposing you are the best SN95 driver ever and can run a 14.7 stock, you think what he has done will give him 8 tenths? I don't.

beacuse i was able to go 14.2@99 with similar mods and i am still not a good driver. stock gears and street tires. that was my second time going so with a good driver i would say its possible.

i think if you did a TB/intake you would prolly be able to get there. then there is always better suspension stuff to lower your 60' times. or just toss on some nitrous...

You can do it cheaply and easily.

-Get some drag radials or slicks
-Remove the front swaybar and strut tower brace
-Remove the serpentine belt or run a short belt
-Ice the manifold between runs, always run cool

That should definitely get you 13s. If not, a new intake manifold certainly will.

You should be close now.

The car is there with traction. Drag radials will get you there for sure if you cant get your street tires to hook. I don't get why you other guys' cars are so slow and you disagree. Apparently it's an issue of driving for you guys. My buddy went 14.0 on street tires with just CAI, exhaust, pulleys, and 3.55s so don't tell me it's hard to do since those are the same mods this guys has. Not to mention it was his first pass on the new gears. Now get some DRs and enjoy the 13s.

My buddy went 10.0 with a body kit. This guy I know's brother in law's car can fly. I put a Holley sticker on my BOMBZ RACING CAI and gained 19 HP at the wheels.

Everybody has the buddy that went this or that and their times are all round numbers, no MPH listed, nobody knows 60s or 330s, but it happened. And nobody posts pics of slips. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I'm not gonna take it as fact till its proved. I think we've all seen the situation where the more peeps talk about their cars they just keep getting faster.....

TO the poster: Sorry I'm drifting into the rant zone, but I don't like it when peeps ask for advice and hear the "learn to drive" followed by bench racing anecdotes response. That doesn't help anyone. I know for one that if you talk to a moderator, Paul aka Killercanary, he kept track of what he was running with what mods from stock to full out HCI. He has a vert and can drive the piss out of it, but he could help give you a idea better then most.

Anyways.... I definately agree with the DR's statement, but then you have to worry about things like stock axles and stock differentials taking a crap on you. I've bent a stock axle, with a 3.27 screw, on Nitto DRs, doing a stupid stop light launch. It's not hard to do. In my experience, not opinion, launching on any kind of sticky tires with the stock diff and axles is asking for trouble. Which is why Jackie Chan continues to amaze me. And why I now sport Pirelli's at all 4 corners. It's a mistake I'm only going to make once!

Really?

I pulled a few 1.8s on BFGs at the track last year with a bone stock rear end (besides the 4.10s) and have many hard street launches on the car as well with no problems...

Hell, in Race Pages ultra-budget 10s for $10K they advocate using the stock 8.8.

I've always had pretty good faith in the 8.8- I figured the clutches will slip before anything really goes boom.

No, the time starts after you cross the beam. I've sat for 10 seconds when the light had turned green and still ran a 13.3 at 106MPH back in the day. With bracket racing you want to leave at green so you can meet at the end.

I'm going to move this to talk.

Exactly.... Bracket Racing is a whole different game. A fun game, but a whole different one.

You are a genious. If you dont think his car can do 13s with those mods and DRs then you must be extremely unfamiliar with what these cars can run. My heavy vert ran 14.2s on 245 street tires with those mods and 3.73s instead of 3.55s. I couldve ran 13s with ease with DRs. You need to spend some more time at the track if you think those numbers are not possible. And congrats to your buddy who ran 10s with a body kit. Btw, Paul wasn't running 14.2s with my mods.

I think we're saying the same thing here. I wasn't being sarcastic when I said that. I just added my two cents in that I personally think its risky running any kind of sticky tires on the stock diff and axles. Due to a crappy bent axle I experienced. Maybe I did not articulate that it would be more beneficial to the poster to do the intake then to use DRs, as the power increase will be there and he won't have to worry about other things breaking.
