What Do You Carry And Why?

I wear denim or "cargo" style shorts in hot weather, all of which need a belt anyway. With a loose button-down or T-shirt outside, I can hide most of my smaller handguns fairly easily. I've also found wearing it cross-draw seems to work better for me, especially when driving- I can still get to the gun more easily that if it's in the "4 o'clock" position. The seat belt buckle and seat bolsters really get in the way.
I was looking at a small of the back holster ( Watching "Red" in the Blacklist) , but I am not very limber anymore trying to draw my pistol from there....To do it correctly the butt needs to point to the opposite side of your draw arm so the barrel points AWAY from you as you draw it for safety reasons..... It twists up your shoulder, arm and hand a bit....

Does anyone have a magazine loader they recommend?? They were never easy to load, but mags seem to be getting harder for me to load completely
Any recommendations??

I share your mag reload difficulties and can't always get that last round stuffed ... I've taken to chambering a round then load another round into the mag ... still one short, but I feel fulfilled
I had quite a bruise after offloading several boxes of 'old' ammo and looked at downsizing to 32 for edc, however I looked at availability of ammo and it seems in ridiculous short supply so it's still 9kurz
aging, can't live without it ...

After reading a gun magazine story by some famous gun guru about how, due to aging, he finally downsized from 45 to 9mm, I followed suit...
My handgun class I took years ago, was really big on Knockdown power.... 9mm's were considered baby bullets that just put holes in crazed druggies if they were attacking you......
Read the stories of the guys in WWII who had Colt 45's and came home to be cops and were given 38's..... They were not happy...

Are you over thinking this? Carrying around town I don't see getting into a gun fight where you would need multiple clips to defend yourself.
Now around the house is a different story, a few clips at the ready wouldn't hurt although again, your not likely to be in a gun fight dumping several mags of ammo.
I also believe criminals are cowards, you start tossing lead at 'em they be running like the wind, their aim will also be hampered when they have to hold their pants up with one hand.
Now this thinking changes if you live in a boarder town with Mexico.

practice how not to be seen (and shot placement) ... there has always been a lot of discussion on caliber
the best advice I've seen is try not to go anywhere with a sidearm you wouldn't go without one, although
today that can be difficult ... have you ever seen the web site "heyjackass.com" Chicago violent crime site?
(now this is intended to be somewhat funny) border towns, they are the worst look at Kansas City and St. Louis
my wife and I rarely go out after dark, she's too small to hide behind and we live in a college town with a large sports program ...
of course I do have my intimidating size going for me, at 5'7" 145, I rarely encounter problems

There is so much that goes into knock down power. At the end it's speed and velocity. 45 acp is great, buy bulky most of the time. I agree with General. You start spraying and they will GTFO. I would imagine that of I ever found myself in a situation that violent it will end quick. Either I start shooting or returning fire, they either take me out, I take them out or they run away. You think a 22 is nothing. Ok. Stand over there and I promise not to shot anything vital. Let's talk after. People respond well to pain. Carry what you like. If protection is your job. That's an entirely different equation. I keep a Smith 38 feather weight in my truck. 5 shots of go away. If it last beyond that I'm in trouble.

The reason I got my Concealed permit is I had a gun pulled on me in 89, on I-5, in the Tacoma WA area.... Guy chased me for 30 minutes... No cell phones, " where is a cop when you need one" etc.... There is alot more to the story but I slowed down enough to get behind him... The next off ramp he took and then came back down behind me..... LONGEST half hour in my life..... NOBODY will EVER do that to me again......
I drove for a living ( sales) After that incident I packed a 45 up front and had one of my AK-47's in the trunk with 3- thirty round clips......
Bring it on pal, was my motto back then...... I figured the 45 would get me to my trunk.......

LOL, General, I have an incident EVERY time I drive my car....

Bud, then you've got to ask yourself what the common denominator is, here. I still get pretty rowdy, even at 40, but I have mellowed a bit, and I've learned that the best way to deal with escalators, the kind that have to outdrive, outsmart, outrisk you, is to... just... slow... down... They don't have that kind of time when they're pissy. They'll usually just get on down the road. I also find that when drivers are startin' to work me up, letting go and slowing down takes the boil back down to a simmer, and then to chill mode.

In any case, I've shot probably 30k rounds from a 1911, love the way it feels, and love that the bullets go where I want them to in a 2nd-natured kind of way. So, I've got a Milt Sparks leather holster in the 4 o' clock with a Kimber Ultra TLE II .45 ACP:

For pocket carry, it's a Sig P938 nightmare (9mm), also with a laser:
1661748035938.jpeg Its controls & grip-angle are just like the 1911, but in a smaller package. There's not a whole hell of a lot smaller.

I don't carry a lot of rounds, but the whole idea is to break contact if I get into a situation or get to a rifle. I keep a TR870 at bedside, as well as a noisy brown intruder alarm system...

which is good enough to hole up in place, or to fight to my Aero M5 (.308). The gun shop guy was kind enough to let me test fit the KAC suppressor while I waited an eternity to get the tax stamp.

Or my KAC SR-30 (300 BLK) for a CQB/truck gun:

When the civil war starts you are prepared.......
No argument with you about a " common denominator" here.....
At 67 am tired of being the "Silent" majority who lets these people "who should all have bus passes and NO License (most probably DON"T have a license or insurance) on the same road as good drivers....... " Don't look at them" and " just let them go" after they come close to smashing into my vehicle is no longer in my vocabulary.....

This is my profession. I am an Airborne, Air-Assault, EIB, Ranger-qualified, Active Army Officer, and infantryman through two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm not into the guns in the way that many are, but I do recognize the need to have the right tool for the job, stay trained with them, and I also believe in the mantra that when seconds matter, police are only minutes away.

thank you for your service...

Picked up one of these 2 weeks ago. At that price point, I figured if it was a trash gun I would throw it in the glove box and call it good. It is a lot better than that. Even the FFL commented that "he hated to admit that it felt real good in his hands".
Throw in the 10 mags that fit a Glock as well and the price point is insane.
I have a Gen 4 G17 and comparing the Dagger to it, the dimensions are almost identical. Throw in that it is available with a threaded barrel...
It shoots quite well. I have Zero complaints.

Let me add, I have been very impressed with PSA. I have purchased two AR15's from them. One was complete and the other was a kit that I assembled myself. Both shoot extremely well. I have also purchased a HK AR15 in 22LR from them, a HK VP9 and a Mossberg 590 12 Gage. There service has always been good. Also purchased a ton of ammo. No complaints. All of PSA firearms are made at their facility in South Carolina.
