Hey guys...

I wanted to see what you guys think about this engine/tranny combo I am gonna pick up for a good price...

-Stock bottom end
-Edlebrock performer heads 2.02/1.60 valves
-Edlebrock performer RPM 2 manifold
-E303 cam
-1.6 roller rockers on the intake side & 1.7's on the exhaust side
-BBK 1 5/8" LT's & o/r H
-BBK fuel pressure regulator
-MSD 6AL
-World class T5 trans (less than 2k miles)
-Centerforce dual friction clutch

All these parts only have 1000 or so miles on them except the bottom end has 93k miles.... The guy I know who is selling the motor lost interest in his car & wants to sell it with a stock motor in it....

The only thing the motor needs is 24lb injectors & MAF, & a better throttle body & its good to go....

What do you guys think this combo is worth in $$$ & what kind of power do you think it will put down in my 91 notch??? I will be trading my stock 172k mile motor (minus tranny) in the deal also so with that in trade how much cash would you pay for the combo?

Thanks....

sounds like a pretty stout setup. it hasnt even been run yet?

Its been run, but the guy doesnt really care about mustangs anymore, so he lost interest. It still has the stock injectors & maf with a T bird SC throttle body (I think) so it definitely needs 24# inj/ Maf & a better TB to run to its full potential.... I have heard it run & it sounds good. My buddy who helped him put the motor together told me that when they put everything together it had a worn stock clutch in it. They took it to the track with the worn clutch slipping VERY BADLY & it still ran a 13.0.... After he put the new centerforce in it, he drove it a little bit & then parked it 4 a while...Now he lost interest & wants to now sell it....

That motors probably good for about 300 at the wheels. 19 lb injectors may be ok for that set up as well. I was told but a guy who does tunes and was an engineer at SLP that 19 lbs are perfect for my gt40 set up. But im sure 24's wont hurt either. I'd say offer him 2000 to start and see where that takes ya.

now that i have never heard of. world class t5 is rated 325 lb ft toque or something near that, the regular t5 is rated around 300. which is why they go bad on foxes so much. they already have that much from factory.

setup sounds good only i would ditch the e cam. nothing bad with the e cam only you can get more power out of it with a better one. i have a friend with a 91 gt with the same heads and the old school eddy rpm intake and a custom holman moody cam putting 320 to the tires with full boltons. and i would go with the dr gas x pipe over the h pipe too. the t-5 may be ok if you dont try to power shift it and continuously dump the clutch and are smooth with shifting it.

I would ditch the E cam, but the heads have 2.02 valves & an aggressive cam would cause clearance issues I think? As far as the tranny, I should be OK since its new & i dont power shift at all. My buddy had over 300 passes, half of those running mid 10's on a stock T5 with AFR 185's & an S trim so i know its possible....

MikeROD, your thinking of the 93 Cobra or "motorsport" T5. That thing is slightly stronger than a regular production T5. Trust me I'v done plenty of research on T5's. World Class T-5's were simply updated with needle bearings on the drive (reduction) gears on the main shaft. World Class trannys were first used in 85 Mustangs.

The bottom end will handle it. A fabrication shop near me that builds wicked cars has a notch there where he had a 165K stock bottom end, HCI, and 14PSI Vortec and race gas. He beat the snot out of the car and it held up great. He then did some testing with it on pump gas and blew a head gasket. He replaced it, and the car went back on race gas and was still an animal. The car now has a different motor in it with over 500RWHP. They are always testing stuff out to show customers what they can do.
