what do you run under your pony?

The only Dynomax Super Turbos I've had that weren't horribly OEM-quiet are the ones with the same-side inlet/outlet (#37676) that I've used on side-exit exhaust setups - now, THOSE will roar! (The reason being that they only have a U-bend in them, versus an S-pattern of baffles.) I got rid of the Dynomax cat-back I had previously installed on my notch last year, and my only regret is that I didn't quite cinch up the tailpipes on there exactly the way they need to be, but that has no bearing on the sound whatsoever.

I LOVE the sound of my current exhaust, though I wish to heck that I could permanently fix the sagging midsection and misaligned tailpipe problems that detract from the fun. I agree with what's been said, I can't believe nobody else has thrown out rave reviews or even a passing mention of Pypes Violator muffs. Not only do they sound HELLA badass, but I got a smokin' deal on them at WFC9 last year - $80 for a PAIR.

With stock headers, a UPR cat'ed X-pipe, and 2.5" stainless Dynomax tails, they've got a VERY nice burble at idle, a wicked rasp that opens up magically at WOT, and ZERO drone whatsoever - they were somehow actually quieter inside the car at cruise than the Super Turbos that I took off, if you can imagine that.

One of these days, I'll get around to compiling all of the video/sound footage of the different exhaust setups I've had on my notch. I'm still giving serious consideration to overhauling the exhaust yet again this coming spring to replace the UPR piece of crap with a Jeg's off-road X (and keep the UPR turd for strictly smog testing) and throw on another pair of Dynomax #37676 muffs with side-exits...

I've got a Dynomax catback on my Cherokee but i'm not sure the 'name" they have....I ordered them from a local speed shop and that was the about the only catback they could get aside from Banks and Borla which i can't afford.

As for the stang, i think its getting a Spintech side exit kit with the Dr. Gas X this winter....but who knows. As for the Flowmaster debate...i do like my car to sound different than everyone elses...it's sort of like having it's own voice...which it does :D

I would have to promote my mufflers, Flopro's.... I beleive they are FP225's.

Pypes Violators are almost an exact copy of them if that gives you an idea. They are SUPER CHEAP... Built great, better construction than any other brand (except some stainless stuff, of course).

They sound super awesome at idle, gives a nice chunky lope to a car, Loud as hell when the throttle is opened up or cracked... And NO DRONE at any RPM.. and I have dumps! (A SLIGHT drone at 1100 rpm for me, but Im never in that band)

my buddy just stoped by with his 71 hatch back, his exhust took a dump and he put flowmaster series 40's on it and i was quite impressed! sounded 100 times better then it did with the stock, and 10 times better then i thought it would of being the 40 series! just thought id let you guys no!

**IMO** im still new here, but ive heard alot of 5.0's and they all sound simular to me.. like when one drives down a road and your not payen attention but that sound just hits you and you know what it is!!! **IMO** i mean other then stock!!!

I wonder, you guys with Super Turbos telling us they "scream", does this mean they are louder than Flowmasters up top? I had Super Turbos, Flowmasters, Macs and now Spintechs. My dads had Macs and now Hookers, and my sisters had dumped flows and now Macs. I can assure you the Super Turbos were the quietest at every RPM, and maybe it was me, but they definately did NOT scream! This is why I got rid of them!

Might be the motor combos you guys are running, but super turbos are only a little louder than stock.

Up top, its hard to beat long tubes, an off road mid pipe (X seams to get louder than an H) and some kind of loud muffler will scream!

I agree. Everyone who is saying that the Super Turbos scream when you get on it is full of it. They sounds a TAD bit louder than stock.

my 87 coupe has bbk longtubes off road h with bullets dumped. Sounds great. I've heard spintechs on a 5.0 with tailpipes and it was pretty loud. my buddy has an 03 mach with slp LT's off road x and loudmouth catback and it is loud as hell.

Personaly I have MAC Equal length shorties, off road H and old school 2 chamber Flowmasters. Sounds good, deep and throughty.

Good buddy of mine runs BBK longtubes, with BBk X pipe and the Original 40 Flowmasters and it sounds effin nasty. Nice raspy tone, awesome sound on the street.

Those are 2 I have experiance with......I would go either way!

Ok for the Dynomax haters hear is a clip. Dynomax headers o/r h pipe( I dont know what brand) and Dynomax turbo catback. I think its more than a tad louder than stock. These came with my car, i didnt choose them but I do like the combo.

Yes but you are cammed hence why your car is louder.

Yes but compare that to other exhausts... Ill try and find my clip with me revving my car. It trumps that as far as sound goes...

Open headers sound bad. I actually didnt mind the sound of my car with no catback, but I had cats and long tubes and would never run it around like that!
