I'm new here. I have been surfing and learning alot from all of you.

I have a 87 Mercury Cougar that I have converted to 5 speed and want to convert to mass air to use the following motor? This is my every day driver. This car weighs approximately 3,400 lbs. Please give me your thought on this motor combination.

88 302, Dart Windsor sr. heads with 1.6 and 2.02 valves, motorsport x-303 cam shaft, duration 224 lift 542, boss 302 race crank, motorsport roller rockers, comp cam valve springs matched to cam, heads are o-ringed for lock wire head gaskets (to handle nitrous), stock mustang intake, stock 19lbs injectors, 8.1 compression, stock mustang exhaust, and 3.73 gears.

I would like to know if the stock 19lb injectors are going to be big enough. your input would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Larry

Ditto that. Built a '87 T coupe with performers and a cobra intake, exhaust and MAF conversion that runs well. He used a E cam (not the greatest choice) and plan on a mild blower similiar to my combo. The car is heavy (3800+) and with 3.55's it runs good and rides nice. Luxury mustang...

You need torque, the X cam and sr's are going to kill the fun factor on that car (too big to perform down low).

Actually, his car is pretty sharp looking with those Welds on it too.:nice:.....or is it Lori's car? :D

Guys thanks for your help.

This motor was my brothers with 168 hard nitros miles on it. He has since bought a 331 stroker for his T-Bird that is a play toy/drag racer.

Gearbanger thanks for the compliment on the car. Actually the picture looks way better than the car. Our car is in need of a paint job. The Welds were borrowed from my brother for a week end. I had to take them off because I was rubbing the outside sidewalls when the car twisted due to normal driving. At the time the picture was taken, this was Lori's car. Since then it has become mine due to getting her an Explorer.

I think I saw that you were using a stock intake, that will absolutely choke that combo, I'd go with a ported cobra at least or a higher flowing one, the 19lbs injectors are ok, but if could stand to upgrade those to along with a 190LPH fuel pump,70mmTB, and 77+mm MAF. other wise it looks pretty good, but a blower would help that low compression a bit. and like sombody else said it's not gonna do to good down low ecspecially with the 8:1 compression.
