So I just got my Q400 hood 2 months ago, and now i've gotten tired of the plain black look on the car so i decided to spice it up a bit. Let me know what you think. Keep in mind that I'm NOT yet done. I MAY re-do the rear bumper to have the stripes fully come down into the "MUSTANG" lettering and then put the chrome letters over that, and i STILL have to do the front bumper, which will go all the way down to (but not on) the Mach 1 chin spoiler.

For your information, the cost of this was fairly cheap as my family owns a vinyl sign shop. The work was performed by my uncle and myself over many many hours =p I think it took a total of about 10 hours to do and i'm still not done. Which isn't bad for the 1st time doing this i'd say. It wasn't easy working around the Q400 hood and took a while to get the dimensions and straight lines down.

The hood stripes are 8.5" thick and the outside stripes are 1/4" thick. The side door stripes are 3.5" thick with again 1/4" pin striping around.

Anybody in the northern NJ (Hackensack) area who wants this done, contact me, my uncle would love the buisness. He enjoyed doing this project :nice:

10hours man thats a long time what took so long?? me and my father own our own vinyl shop also and it dont take half that? im guessing the hood slowed you down alot?? the car look's great though i really like that hood:nice:

I actually like the hood and stripes going over the car. I don't like the way "281" is written on the side of it though. The font doesn't make me feel intimidated.

Hehe well i didn't know what else to put there, didn't want to leave it a blank stripe. and I can't put MUSTANG or GT cause everyone already knows that. So I MAY change it to: 281 CID. But im not sure as of yet.

And yes i agree the back looks busy, i might restripe that back bumper to be solid through....when i get some free time.

As far as you other guys that dont like the stripes, i find you either like them or you dont, there is no inbetween. I'm a HUGE fan of stripes like this IMO. And i'm pretty sure im the only one on here with a striped Q400 hood. yes?

yeah workin on the car after i got out of work at nights was rough on me, plus measuring and working around the width parameters of the louvers is what took a while. I'm also not a real vinyl worker, so took some practicing since my uncle wasn't there the whole time through the project. :D

looks pretty good, looked good with out it too imo, but atleast you did a good job, yea but maybe you should of went with a grey/silver color to match youre rims

Thats EXACTLY what I was going to do. However the fact that my boss at work has a black mustang with grey/silver stripes AND the fact that I have chrome rims as well that i change out sometimes, made me want to go more with a different color. And Black and White look sick in my opinion.

But i WAS originally thinking gray/silver on black

With the you either like it or you don't I disagree... IMO I like your car better without the stripes... When I had my car redone and repainted and everything, I tried it without the stripes for a week, and I decided to put them back on because I liked them better with...

I think it might look alot better if the stripes followed suit all the way down front and back. As it sits right now, they end at the end of the hood... and also they don't go under the spoiler, or thru the "mustang" at the back... I think it would look better with those filled in as well...

Yeah i said in the original post i still need to finish the Front Bumper. And yes i agree i may redo the rear bumper to make it more filled in. Flush all the way through
