2v with stock motor running 8-10lbs of boost. Does any one know about what it will run in the Texas mile? Just curious.

About $4k after you puke the rods out of the block.

I imagine it would have to be done with a 2.73 gear ratio?

Depends on what you're trying to do. 2.73's would put a HORRIBLE strain on the drivetrain, especially once you're getting up there in speed and start to hit a lot of wind resistance.

If you even got into 5th with 2.73's the car would just hit a wall and go nowhere. Way too small of a gear and not enough power. Stock 3.27's would be better, the blower would help out in 5th although it's still a low gear.

3.55's or 3.73's would probably be best suited. They'll provide more MPH than the car is capable of doing and create less stress for everything trying to push it there. Car probably won't do over 160ish mph any way you slice it on a top speed run.

But I really think you're asking for trouble with a 1 mile WOT run under boost on a stock bottom end.

at 350-375rwhp, you will be looking at 150-155mph, depending on wind, and DA.

BTW, in 2 years at the Texas Mile, I have never seen a 2v run the mile. Just 3v, 4v terminators, GT500's. The 2v mustang is not a great platform for a 1 mile race. There is so much more to take in to effect in a 1 mile race than the 1/4. A lot of the fastest mustangs, camaros, vettes, have not put up a good MPH in the 1 mile event.

A few weeks ago was just scary for anybody running. 10-35mph head/crosswind. Lot of factors in 1 mile racing, which I will soon experience.

Holy crap, when did you get rid of the C5 for a C6?!? Blown at that...

I assume you're going to run it in the mile before too long by that last statement?

I can't keep up with the new 5.0's!

I blew 2 rear ends last year, and it was too much! Might have gone deep 11's NA this year with Tires, but the vettes are just not made to launch. Too many rear ends.

Yes, I got a hold of a ls3 with 18k on it and put a big, bad blower on it before the fiancee even knew that it was on the car.

I'll be running in March. Hoping for 185mph, but way too many factors. I've got a couple guys that will be helping me in taping, and setting the car up. One went 187mph in his shelby, and the the 191mph in his c5.

Yeah well, the new 5.0 seems to be making the GM crowd sweat... lol.

But seriously, that's awesome. I know you were having some issues with the C5 but didn't know it was enough to prompt you to sell it. Can't blame you though, a buddy of mine had a C6 with full exhaust and a few other minor mods and it was a sick car. Unfortunately he had terrible luck with that car, wrecking it twice... totaled it out the second time and he walked away from it and bought a mint 04 Cobra and has been good since.

I can hardly imagine what 185mph would feel like, but it's got to be a hell of an adrenaline rush. I wouldn't doubt it's making the power to get there, and they are aerodynamically efficient so that's a big hurdle you don't have to contend with either (like trying to get a new edge up to those speeds).

I've been well above that in this car. Had a private road, that was open to me, and me only. My car makes more torque than this ls2, but we backed off the HP. 3-4 forum members here have been in the car, but not on the top speed run outside of houston. Should do 200-220mph at 7k. Adding about 40hp with meth soon. It pulls slightly harder than this car, but I won't post a vid. We tuned the car from 600rwhp back down and pulled timing. Really scary to be doing 175mph before you even notice it.

I better be invited to be in the pit crew and maybe we can convince Kyle to cook again

I would think that a 2v with a blower would do 145-150

Why is it not such a good platform for a mile race? They'll do over 160mph (drag wise, think max areo is about 180ish before things start coming off)

Tranmission and gearing might have something to do with it. Termis, GT500's and vettes all have a 6 speed and can make more hp safely than the average stock 2v. Most cars out there start in the 500-700rwhp range on the stock blocks, and that is really just the lower hp cars. A lot more 500-700hp termi, vettes, GT500's on the road than 500-700hp 4.6 2v's. It would be cool as hell to see, though. Only one I have seen was a coool turbo mach 1 out there. Here is a pic that I took of a sweet terminator the first year I went. He was over 180 in this pic.

There was all a turbo deisel aero drag mustang that has been there the last 2 events. He went over 200mph this year. Not a street car, nothing on the car is stock, not even the panels.
