Depending on the heads, your compression will be bumped up probably to about 9.5:1. You will also most likely be bumping your timing up to around 15+ degrees.....so yeah, you're gonna need to run better gas. 91 at least.
haha better gas? all the octane rating has to do with is its ability to resist detonation, the higher the octane rating the longer the burn time. longer burn time = less chance of going detonation or "pinging". it depends on a lot of things. compression and timing are major players.
Different cars require different gas. 92 gas isn't always better performance wise it will just stop the detonation caused by advanced timing or high compression. You should use the lowest octane rating without pinging.
