What Harmonic Balancer should I get?

Your price range and expectations for your engine are really what it depends on. If you're not spinning some high RPMs, you may not have the need for an SFI approved balancer. If you are, Pro Products (same manufacturer as the Typhoon intake) sells an SFI approved balancer that's supposed to be a high quality piece from what I've read. They run in the $100 range from what I recall. You may not even need an SFI balancer if you're planning, or have already done a mild build consisting of just H/C/I and a stock shortblock though. There's several of us (myself included) who are just running factory replacements with mild builds. Pioneer is the brand that stands out in my mind as the one many of us recommend for a factory replacement.

The SFI Foundation, Inc. (SFI) is a non-profit organization established to issue and administer standards (or specifications) for specialty/performance automotive and racing equipment, with the goal of promoting quality and reliability in the design, manufacture and application of these products. SFI standards are developed at the request of various manufacturers and/or race sanctioning bodies. The SFI Technical Committee initiates the specification drafting process, and encourages industry-wide participation in finalizing these specs. I think both the sfi Romac and Pioneer HB's are quality parts

I have no idea if one is better than the other :shrug:

I did an exhaustive search on the sfi Pioneer before I got mine

I found no negative stuff about it

Since you don't have all the hassles of installation with it :nono:
like you see peeps talk about with Romac's :(

The Pioneer could bought for a bit less :banana:

The decision for me was plain and simple at that point :)

btw ... if you are gonna spin it pretty good ........
IMHO ... sfi quality is worth the price :nice:
