k guys, bassically i want to know EVERYTHING that i will possibly Need to do a stroker motor for my stang, if you could please list something's that would be awsome.
i'm the type of guy who likes to be prepared for this kinda stuff so before i start doing this motor i want a list i can run through. (obviously there are little things that will come up) please list even the little obscure things that most people would'nt think of, but that i need. look in my sig for what i got now
also what stuff can i get away with reusing.
so far i've come up with.....

Short block assembly (obviously )
heads (not sure on which ones, leaning towards gt40's)
upper and lower intake
cam
bigger injectors
convert to mass air (its currently SD, so i'll pick up a bigger MAF to match injectors)

You'll need a stroker cranks for 331 or 347 (different), and .030 over pistons/rings. Of coarse rods, main/cam bearings, piston pins. Possibly notching the block with the 347, possibly not with the 331. You'll need it balanced. Not much else off the top of my head.

Nope. It just depends on how you have it balanced. My 331 and 347 both use 50 oz balancers. The only benifit of using a 28oz balancer is that you (usually) have to take less weight off of the crank.

Might be time to invest in a nice Canton oil pan and possibly a girdle for the mains. Easier to do while its apart. Also I'd look into a high flo oil pump. And since I didn't see one, time to get a bigger fuel pump to support those bigger injectors.

Probably gonna also need a larger throttle body and EGR spacer.

Before you order your shortblock deciede weather your going blown or naturally aspirated.

Might as well get a windage tray while you're at it. Taller valve covers to clear your roller rockers. Also need new lifters, spiders to hold 'em, pushrods, gaskets, motor mounts while you're at it. Fuel pressure regulator, some gauges to keep an eye on your new investment (cheap insurance over stock gauges) Radiator, quality balancer and matching flywheel, new clutch while you're in there (don't wanna smoke what you have in a week and be back under the car again ) Air charge temp sensor, headers, new 02s! So, basically if it's under the hood, you may want to replace it. LOL, I know it's a lot, I just did it in July

I used the term oil filter adapter nut, which might not be the exact term but thats the only way I know how to describe it, its a big allen key threaded plug that goes into the block in which your oil filter actually threads onto when your installing it. You might get lucky and be able to use your old one from the old engine same with the spiders (hold lifters in place) like someone already mentioned. Another thing is the spider brace which holds all the spiders down you will need that as well if you don't have it from the old engine.

As for the water pump odds are the old one is on its way out and with the engine being rebuilt there's no better time to upgrade to a newer high volume water pump. I have a summit racing polished hv water pump and it works great. Came with the spacer plate and gaskets.

I laugh to cause I just did it in july also, my whole engine is basically brand new aside from the following

a few bolts
timing cover plate (refinished)
timing pointer (refinished)
spiders and brace
oil filter adapter nut
accessory brackets and accessories

I would have a local shop build it before I bought a short block...
If your gonna use a stock block dont waste your money on a forged crank and H-Beam rods. There good for alot more horsepower than your block would ever handle.

Call AD performance..I bought a Scat Cast Crank, Forged 4340 I-Beam rods, SRP forged piston's.
Speed pro Plasma rings(file fit low tension oil ring's)
Melling standard oil pump. Do not run high volume or high pressure.
Buy a new stock oil pump shaft.(dont run the hardened ones)
Federal Mogul Standard bearings.(standard Half groove not full. its all in the clearances)
Canton Main Girdle because there steel and also come with a windage tray set up.
Your block will have to be notched.
Cam bearings.
Freeze plugs.
28oz billet steel flywheel.(Ford Racing is a nice peice)
28oz Damper(Romac, powerbond etc... dont get the lightweight alu. outer ring ones)
Ford Racing 9 key way timing chain.( nice peice)
Camshaft.(FTI)
Also when you have to get bolts buy ARP like Damper and flywheel etc..
Might as well put a good bell housing on it.(Mcleod)
Also Canton makes an oil pan thats designed for there girdle and windage tray.
Timing pointer.(UPR,Ford Racing etc..)

That should get ya started But all the stuff I listed is what I run. I was told to run this stuff by George Montgomery AKA Ohio George who also built my engine. The man has been building engines for over 50 years and he specializes in Ford engines so I would take his word...Good Luck. pm me if you have any more questions
