I currently have a 302 5.0L [as most of us do] and am thinking about converting to a 351W. What do I need to convert? An engine of course, but what else? Fuel pressure regulator? does it take different mounts? What about a different transmission plate? Will my current AODE be able to take a 351W? What about my stock computer? Do I just rip it out?

So many questions... I need some info here guys because I may be able to get a 351W for about $200, then if I put a edelbrock intake and holley carb on it I can probably get a pretty decent engine for about 6-700 bucks.

Also, will the gains be worth it? What type of HP/torque gains am I looking at?

The 351W is basically a larger 5.0, so pretty much all of your stock pieces will bolt up. You need a different lower intake, flywheel and balancer, distributor, and headers. I think maybe a different oil pan too. If it's a non-roller block, you need retro fit lifters($400+) if you plan on changing the cam. There's some smaller parts you need too, like belts and hoses. There's probably more that Im forgetting...This has been discussed hundreds of times, so Im sure you can find everything you need with a search.

As for the AODE, I dont know how it will hold up, or how it will work if switching to carb.

You need to give me an email cause i had a 351 and im not gonna continue my build...so there goes all the parts. I've got Accufab custom long tubes, a tfs-r 351 intake, the distributor u need, the oil pan(minus the pickup), the $400 lifters, etc. And i need cash so u'll get a pretty damn good price for it all.

But i just did the swap last summer so if u want to talk about it, give me an email.

Shoot me a price for the intake, pan, lifters, and distributor. Also, what is the distributor out of?

Stock mounts will work, Aod-e will mount up right to the 351W, but you need your computer or you'll have to go to an Aod. I had an old 86 GT with a carbed 351W after someone ripped the Fuel injection out, I advise u to keep it fuel injected unless it's a track only car.
