well correct me if im wrong but i think you let off the gas a little, or thats what i do atleast my car revs to quick to keep it on the floor. Then just pop the clutch quick from one gear to the next.
i think if you do it correct its not too hard on your trans. But i know its harder than normal shifting.
good luck (learn on your friends car)

Powershifting is when you are pulling on the stick to go into gear and barely touch the clutch, the stick will forcefully (and very quickly) go into the next gear. All this while your foot is on the gas. It happens so fast that you dont have time to take your foot off the gas really. Just dont miss a shift while powershifting or you can start breaking sh1t. Good luck, I never powershift.

Powershifing is when you don't take your foot of the pedal and just tap the clutch and the RPM's don't go down when you shift. It's a diffrent feeling, but be very careful because you can brake your tranny specially if is a stock T5.

Powershifting, even if done correctly will toast a stock transmission very quickly. I don't powershift, but I shift very quickly....which is good enough for me.

Powershifting is as described above, dont lift off the gas, stab the clutch and hit the next gear.

I personally have been doing it to mine and my dads stock T5s for a couple years now (every track pass). I run a weak clutch, and will say I have gone through one already and working on another that is starting to slip, but its cheaper than a trans!

Try it out, but fair warning, stuff could break, some do some dont!

If I ever had to granny shift, Id sell the car and downgrade. You lose so much time shifting slow, I personally wouldnt race knowing I left that much on the table!

Time for a stronger tranny, and pound it into submission! Nothing more fun than watching a 9 or 10 second well driven stick car!

i agree....just waiting for my tranny to go, but thank god so far its been good, running a king cobra clutch this is my second clutch and feels alot better then the centerforce and lasting longer too...what do you suggest as my next tranny?? thinking bout the new line of tko 500or the 600 buddy of mine has the older style 3550 and still runs really strong on his blown car 509 hp to the wheels...

I have driven a few cars with Tremecs in them and they feel a lot stronger than the stock T5, but I have heard good things about the Gforce T5s. As it stands, I would research into a Gforce tranny, see some times guys are running and how they like them, and then decide!

Powershifting is what seperates getting your car towed home or driving it home. I dont power shift but I am working on my shifting methods. Im sure I can get quicker at it then I am. I would not resort to power shifting unless I had another tranny sitting at home.

Or the intelligent from the unintelligent

Referring to people that need their cars like me...

I shift quick...I need to post a video...faster than killercanary (it appears that way on the video anyways) video vs. video.

I get such a laugh out of people who are afraid to drive there cars hard. My current 99 GT has a stock T45, a Spec Stage 1 clutch and 4.10's. I drive the car hard especailly at the strip. Id guess I have over 50 passes, powershifted every single time and have yet to have any transmission problems. Not to mention the other 3 5.0 5 speeds Ive had that were treated the same way. If you know what your doing and you stay on top of maintance, your not gonna hurt your trans with a few powershifts.
As for the benefits consider this... My buddy called and asked me to drive his car a few times at the track last weekend. He ran a 13.5 and a 13.9, he let another friend drive and he hit a 13.7. He told me to powershift the hell outta it, my only run....13.21

I get a kick out of guys like you were their cars are broken down on the side of the road or at the strip before "us" others

Driving has a lot to do with it. Just because one guy pulls a 16 second time in a 05 Viper and you pull a 15 second quarter mile time in the same car/same night. That doesn't mean your a good driver.

Anyways your example of the 99 Gt is answered by the year model. The t45 is a bit stronger and it has less miles on it...let us know how it goes with your 230rwhp...when many in here have more power than that and talking about powershifting.

All I know is every car I have driven I have powershifted and have the fastest track pass in! I realize not everyone will do it, but when you dont remember there is something left on the table, that someone else who will powershift will get out of the car. You better believe the top NMRA and FFW stick racers are powershifting, and even have trannies designed for it!

I need my car to, as I drive 150+ miles one way to the track, but no way will I not powershift. I would rather have the tranny go knowing I gave it my all, than leave something on the table, for fear of breakage!

PS I have 100,000 miles on my stock T5, and well over 50 powershifted track passes, and havent had it go yet! I stand by the fact its usually too much clutch that kills the trannies.
