What is the difference between 87-93 and 94/95 bearing retainers? Because...

There are two Ford Racing Bearing Retainers listed:

FMS-M-7050-A for 1983-1993

FMS-M-7050-B for 1994/1995

I have a 95 t5 transmission (t5) and I need to replace my bearing retainer. I just need to know which one to get.

They are both the same price...

The 94/95's came with steel retainers "stock" right? Why are they listed as different?

Thanks:nice:

David, I know you are sick of me but...........

The SN95 input shaft is about 5/8 longer than a foxes and only 94-95 cobras got steel bearing retainers - the GT's were still aluminum like the stock foxs'.

Good luck bud!

GUys, the steel versus aluminum argument has been brought up many times as to what came stock or not in the 94-95's, but my stock retainer is/was steel, as were all of the others I have seen.

As for there being two different part numbers, all I can think of is the length as hissin stated. Call D&D and see what they offer and have to say about it.

JT - You know I take your advice anytime, because I ask a lot...I think it's more the other way around:)

So it appears they are aluminum and steel...lol.

Yeah I knew the input shaft was longer but I was wondering how that would effect the bearing retainer though:shrug:

I'm going to look at the bearing retainer on there and see if is has a part number...

Keep the ideas coming...:nice:

The 94/95 retainer is 17mm longer than the 87-93. I'm going to get some part numbers off my tranny and go from there and call D&D and see what they have to say.

I'm trying to figure out what the previous owner did to get the 94/95 transmission to fit in my car. Do they just have to change the input shaft? What about bellhousing/etc?

David, since none of us really know, I wonder if taking Paul's idea one step further would work. I wonder if D&D would be receptive to you snapping a couple pics of your trans, bearing retainer, etc and sending them to D&D so they can take a look. Those guys will know in .5 seconds how things were done I bet (rather than us kinda guessing or figuring it out deductively). Might actually be a time saver that way.

I just talked to the previous owner of my car and he said it is a 95 gt transmission with a fox bellhousing and fox input shaft. He said I need the fox bearing retainer. He said the difference between the sn95 bellhousing/fox bellhousing is 17mm if he recalled correctly. Anyways, I'm still going to call D&D later this coming week.

Nice work. Such a bunch of legwork for something so simple. :bang:

He also said it already had a steel bearing retainer that he installed. I knew it "looked" like one but I hadn't compared it. Well it broke...and I'm putting in another one...:)
