Well if you havent heard my story already, my car has a salvage title so im still finding little things here and there that i have no clue what they do and look broken. My car supposedly has anti-theft on it but nothing works, the only thing ive ever had even closely resembling a security system is a red LED down by the shifter and a little switch by the hood release that when flipped randomly will produce a chirping noise like a car alarm almost. When i was bored one day i noticed some wires going into my center consoles storage lid so i unscrewed it and found a couple wires that were clipped in half and a little black box. Today i re-opened it and took it apart and found the following:

Under the hood that says ALPINE as well

Can anyone tell me what exactly this box is for and what i should go about doing to "fix" it? I have no physical papers about the car, just a PDF of the owners manual so anything i find i kinda have to go off you guys to learn about. Tell me anything you can about what ive found please! thanks!!!

I have no idea, I am not a big fan of aftermarket alarm systems. Matter of fact I think they suck. Someone else should know. There are a lot of good stereo and alarm guys here...

That is not the alarm "brain", it is a sensor that triggers the actual alarm. It is a radar sensor. Popular on convertables. Basically puts "radar dome" inside the vehicle. If anything breaks the field, it triggers the alarm.

My suggestion is to find the "brain", and remove everything attached to it if you do not plan to use it.

Well in that case its not that big of a deal to me. If someone wants to tell me what this doohinkey actually does when it works properly that'd be sweet but otherwise i dont care that much. Thanks for your help kilgore.

Ahh 1 more thing while im at it, wont start a new thread over it. While i was taking the console out i broke a light bulb next to the cig. lighter. What model # and brand or whatnot of bulb would i need to use as a replacement for that?
