Hey I just bought a 95 Gt and im wondering what this thing in the pic is thats not attached to anything. I have a feeling that its comes from the passenger side head with exhaust coming out of it then down to the middle of the H-Pipe because that also doesnt have anything attached to it and is blocked off. Also what is it used for and do I need to have it for emmisions. It has an offroad H-pipe on it but I have a Catted BBK one on the way. Any help would be awesome..thanks in advance.

The Secondary Air Injection system is utilized in electronic control systems to divert secondary air either upstream to the exhaust manifold check valve or downstream to the rear section check valve and catalyst. The system will also dump secondary air to the atmosphere during some operating modes. It is used to help the catalytic convertors perform their function of burning excessive hydrocarbons.

Try an junk yard...if you really want to put it back on. These 94-95 put out LESS emissions than my v6 infinite AND 04 BMW btw. They don't need all of that emissions piping on it...depending on what state.

If I remember correctly, "factory" cats (meaning not aftermarket, require that air injection and can they not go bad by running the car with them on and no air injection?

so does any of this effect my emmisions testing or will it be fine and also does anyone have any idea where I can get a replacement so I can hook it all up. Any pics would be great too

Yes.

Junkyard or resto houses. Half the same-era Fords out there use similar A.I.R. system components. You are probably missing the solenoids in the passenger fender well area as well.

Good luck.

EDIT: PG posted while I pecked. PG is right - the stock cats really do require the extra O2 to last as long as they can. Many newer cats free up some O2 during the reduction stage, hence not needing external O2.

My question is ... does your car still have a smog pump? If you want to make it all emissions compliant, and it doesn't have one, you will need that as well. As far as I know, they have to be off a '94-'95 V8 Stang to work. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I also agree with JT about the solenoids. If someone went as far as they did in those pics .. you more than likely are missing the AIR solenoids as well.

Yes it has a smog pump and the egr is there it further up..well the seliniod is at least...I would have to take a look to make sure everything is hooked up right with it. Well I have a brand new BBK catted H-pipe coming to me in a couple days so I guess I dont need to worry about the thing being plugged. Thanks everyone for the info
