What kind of Head is this?

A guy gave me heads for free but they are off a marine motor. They are cast iron heads and the heads are stamped Ford, 302 and a casting number. It was dark when I got them but I looked real fast and saw a
D2--.... I'm thinking it a 1972 302 head but I'm not sure. The weird thing is the guy told me it was a 351W motor, but the heads are stamped 302.

Did Ford put 302 heads on a 351W boat motor? Also how good are these heads?

Ford shared heads between the 302/351 platforms. Using them on your 302 shouldn't be a problem if they came off a 351, they'd just need some bushings to make up for the difference in head bolt sizes, and Edelbrock sells some. If you can, take a look and see what the casting number is on the heads, so we can try to figure out which ones they are.

All Ford heads I've seen earlier than the 80s have the engine size and year cast right on top in between the rocker arm studs in nice big letters. My 289 has 65 289 stamped in the heads, my 351W heads are stamped 75 351W, but my set of E6s are stamped somewhere on the bottom. A set of D8 heads I was checking out were also stamped on the bottom and not the top. I think Ford ended the top-stamping between 1976-1978.

they are D2OE 302 heads. 1972 year motor is what they came off of. The chamber is 58cc with 1.74 valves. Are these heads worth rebuilding for a budget motor? I know they are not like aluminum heads but can they flow with a port job?
