The 2V's does not have a knock sensor, and yes, if you have an engine equipped with a knock sensor that requires 91 and you are using 87, you will have more power by switching to 91 as the knock sensor will no longer have to retard the timing.

With the scenario above, you are not gaining any power, you are just getting back to what you should have had if you had used the proper fuel called for in the first place.
He by no means said that running premium will increase your power if your car does NOT require premium.

No one could tell me if 01 mustangs had a knock sensor for sure.
I got the answer from canadastang. I guess I will just run 87-89.

i run 93 cuz i have 10:1 compression.......
when i get my procharger i wonder what octane ill have to run.....im thinking 93 will be ok with a bottle of octane boost

87 here... the stock GT is tuned for 87... it dont have knock sensors so it's not liek the computer is adjusting for 87 it will run the same no matter what 87-89-93 so i run 87...
back when i had my camaro i ran 94 (sunoco) that car was stock and technicaly could run on 87 but GM did that by using knock sensors so when 87 was used it would knock then the PCM would decrease the timming too next too nothing.. it would run ok... but lost a lot of power at WOT...
same with my old turbo regal... if you read the owners manual you could use 87 if you had too... but the knock sensor will pick up the detonation and cut almost all boost out... (that car got 94 octane too)
