What pistons, rods, and crank to use?

Mike get the Spec stage 3+ clutch and lightweight flywheel. The clutch is suppose to be as streetable as the stage 2 but have the holding power of the stage 5.

And as for the rotating assembly yes it is $200 extra but you have to have the stock crank rebalenced anyway. May as well start out with a brand new one and have the ability to wind it past 7000 RPM. The stock crank is not save past 6500 RPM.

It is your money in the end might as well spend it wisely.

My biggest problem is time constraint. I need everything yesterday. I got a Spec 2+ cause it was in stock and got a certerforce flywheel that is a dual 8 or 6 bolt. Will be shipped tuesday I hope. Have to have the car done by next weekend. The friend mechanic of mine that is helping me goes to trade school so I'm a little under the gun. I really wanted to try the spec stage 3+ though, sounds pretty good. I think the stage 2+ is good for 600HP so i should be ok. Thanks for the info though :nice: .

id do the exact same thing but id use a Teksid block to start with
Yeah, I've got one of those in an old '93 Mark VIII sitting at my parents house right now. I'll probably use it for my next build, but I'll go with a steel crank with that one, so it will take the RPM. The stock iron block is more than tough enough to handle anything 99% of the users on this board will throw at it, but the additional weight savings an aluminum block provides would be nice to help counter the weight of the 4V components.

I've gone .020" over here on my Cobra. Used stock (Forged Steel) crank, Manley Rods & Bearings, JE forged pistons. Real happy! Running Vortech V-2 at 15lbs for over 15k miles, never missed a beat!

FYI

Things that I knew:
Manley pistons are designed by SHM - been issues - skirts collapsing, etc..
Diamond pistons have the pins offset like the factory and the piston slap is really minimized. I surprized that the rest of the piston companies haven't jumped on that.
Some company's that offer a rod with their name on it just buys them from scat or eagle and have their name stenciled on.
When you change pistons and rods, you will need to get the crankshaft balanced. Aftermarket pistons and rods - bearings too, weigh different than the stock stuff.
