Hey all -
Just me, still chasing "poor mileage demons", and wondering if anyone had a list of sensors that might be worn or bad that might effect a loss in gas mileage to the tune of 7.5 mpg (used to be 20, now is 12.5).
I already replaced the ECT (which had set off a code). What other sensors might give poor gas mileage but not throw a code or seriously affect driveability, cuz it drives nicely, just crappy mileage now.
JT, I still have to do the "test from the top of the tank" thing. As I understand the way the fuel level sender works, it can either read FULL or EMPTY if the electronics involved go South. So even it now tells me it's empty, I believe it may not be empty yet, na dI may b chasing ghosts, not demons...
Maybe I'll check that tomorrow. I'll tell ya, though, I'm not lookin' forward to droppin' $40 on it

well as an O2 sensor gets older, they tend switch slower and slower, thus affecting your fuel trim, sometimes it's not much to set of a code but enough to hurt milage. i replaced mine at 102,xxx im at 108xxx now, and wow! what a difference. try that. hope this helps! good luck

Should change O2's every once in awhile. The rest of the sensors on the vehicle will let you know when they need replacement. O2's will effect fuel mileage.

The recommended interval is 60K miles ...
I change o2's every few years just to be certain my cars are running at peak tune.
