What settings for timing and fuel are you using on your Diablo Predator?

good question....
I got mine today and was wondering what to use too, so far I have not changed the fuel curve, but I have set the timing up 4 degrees on top and bottom end. So let me know how your set up is working, So far mine is ok but I havent got to play with on the open road yet...Ill post results tomorrow... :D

I would also like to know what settings people are using (especially on a Mach 1)

Also, does the data logging allow you to get a general idea of what you a/f ratio is or do you have to go to a dyno for this?

I have seen most people leaning out the mixture... I would think that you are probably running really rich, but I really dunno.

Your settings are almost the same as mine. If I can remember....

Didn't really mess with the spark, but I'm going to tonight. I only did like 1% on both high and low

Fuel I did 9% on low RPM and 11% on high RPM.

The car seems to like the fuel so I'm going to bump the timming up and bump the high RPM fuel up a little bit more and see what happens. The car felt like it fell on it's face on high RPM with the stock Diablo tune.

hmm.....
I agree with you on the stock diablo tune.....I intalled it and then advanced the spark +4 on top and bottom. I didnt change the fuel ratio at all. You guys think that I need to  ??? BTW, after advancing the spark I felt a really good SOTP gain!!!

Subscribing. I'm at stock settings. I'm afraid if I go any more, I'll ping. I can only get 91 octane here in UT. :(

i have the same probleme over here, is there somebody who change the factory tune with 91 fuel and still running good ???

Only 91 octane fuel is available in California. I set the timing advanced to 4% and did not hear pinging, but the exhaust and road noise is so loud it may be hard to detect. I backed the timing off to 3% until I get more information. The owner of the local Mustang performance shop said this was a good setting.

For the automatic transmission, I set the 1st to 2nd shift at 5800 rpm and the 2nd to 3rd at 5650 rpm and left the 3rd to 4th stock. I set the rev limiter to 6250 rpm, since I bumped it a couple times with the stock setting of 6050 rpm. These parameters seem to be a good trade off between performance and engine safety, although, from what I have read, some will probably argue they are conservative.

The Predator is cool, but I am trying to change things gradually and monitor the outcome so I don't create problems.

I hope people continue to add information to this thread as it becomes available.

Played with it a little more today. Bumped the timming up to 4% on both high RPM and low RPM. Brought the fuel up to 12% on low RPM and 15% on high RPM. To much fuel...the car felt like it fell off a little. Brought the fuel back down to 10% on low RPM and 13% on high RPM. Ran the car again and did the live data log. The timming at WOT stayed at 20 deg. so I backed it down to 3% just to be on the safe side. So after today I have the fuel at 10% on low RPM, 13% on high RPM, timming at 3% on high and low RPM. I'm going to drive the car all day tomorrow so I'll see what happens. I'll try and keep you guys updated as I go along. :nice:

predator

I have the timing advanced all the way at both ranges I think that is 10% and the fuel at 12% richer which is dead in the middle of rich and lean when you modify it I think. Anyway it is set there on the high and low rpm ranges and I'm running 93 octane. seems to run great as compared to the stock tune and the one diablo supplied it with, I started low like you guys and then kept going up as it seemed to like it. NO detonation. Am going to the track friday so I will play around with it a bit and let you guys know if I stumble upon anything. Hope this helps.

Dont mean to keep bringing this up, but do I need to change my fuel ratio?? Ive set the timing up 4 on top and bottom...it seems to run great, but I havent changed the fuel at all. I am running 93 octane. Any info would help since I see that all of you are changing the fuel table. What could happen if I dont and keep running it as it is??

Adding fuel isn't gonna hurt it any, so I would say to add some and see if it runs better. (According to most people, it actually runs better with more fuel added)

i might be wrong but, shouldnt leaning out the a/f ratio make more hp??? isnt that all most of the aftermarket MAFs do??? i have advanced the spark by 4 over the diablo tune and it runs better, thanks for the tip :nice: but i havent messed with the fuel yet, just sounded like the opposite of what ive heard.

I havent messed with the fuel or spark, Im too much of a :taco:. Im not sure how much to mess with it. I did some data logging after I installed the Diablo tune, but I cant upload it onto my computer. Will the Predator log my a/f ratio? I know I need to add more fuel or something, but I dont know how much. Ill be going to the track this weekend to do a little test and tune stuff.

This brings up a good point. I have read that an A/F = 14.7:1 is ideal for "stoichiometric" efficiency. But since combustion chambers in the real world are not totally efficient, an A/F = 12.7:1 is the best for power. The reason for this, as I understand it, is since not all fuel is burned, the presence of extra fuel will liberate more combustion energy and horsepower. With all this in mind, I never understood the idea of MAFs tricking the computer into running lean to add power.

Somebody want to shed some light on this?

I was wondering what settings for timing and fuel you are running on your Diablo Predator. Here is what I have:

Spark Advance: 3% advanced for both ranges.

Fuel: 9% rich for low rpm range and 15% rich for high rpm range.

I think these parameters are good, but maybe not optimized.

Let me know what your running!

Sorry about bringing up an old thread, but I just got my Predator and haven't played with the fuel much yet. I was just wondering if adding that much fuel really helped? I thought the car ran lean down low and rich up high, so why add even more fuel in the 4-7 range?

I will probably still try the above settings and see what happens, I just get a feeling that it will be really rich. Anyone been running about with these settings for a few weeks that can shed some light?

TIA

I had my spark advanced 3% and my fuel wasnt advanced at all. I was running lean in both banks with these settings so I advanced my spark to 4% (doesnt make a diff in a/f ratio but did it anyways) and raised my fuel to 3% down low and up top. Then I was running lean in bank 1 so I raised my fuel to 5% down low and up top. So far so good. Havent tested out the performance yet.
