Hello all...

This is the first time that I have posted in this forum.

I have a completely stock '89 LX 5.0. Very soon, I will have approximately $3700 to dump into my car. What should I do?

I had the following ideas:

drop in a Mark VIII motor
or bolt on a ProCharger
or aluminum heads and intake, exhaust etc...

Give me some feedback! There are so many ways to go with this one!

Thanks

JT

Wow, I love spending other peoples money!
Are you going to do all the work your self? Because that will really determine how far your budget can go.
Also, what is the condition of you block?
And, what are your plans for this car?, street, strip, track?

it cost me just about $2000 for everything in my sig, and a buddy and I doing all the work... you could get the block bored .030" get a good cam, heads, intake, lightweight higher compression pistons, roller rockers, then get some gears for the rear.....then you'll have to get all the other stuff like injectors, bigger mass air meter, bigger throttlebody....you can do a whole motor setup and more for 3700 if you shop around and do you own work. have fun! once you start modding you won't be able to stop lol :flag:

I'm getting tired of spending other peoples' money :( I want some of my own to spend.

All I'll say is this: Be patient collecting your parts. Shop eBay (not all that chinese junk either), mustang classifieds, swap meets & even Summit for some things. And be patient collecting the parts. You be patient and do some serious price shopping and that $3700 will go a long way. I wouldn't be bolting on titanium equipped AFR 225s if I hadn't found the right ad at the right time. $4100 for me to buy all the pieces and assemble them--->$2200 for me to buy from somebody that assembled them and then changed there setup before they ever used them. I could go on & on with deals I've picked up in the online classified ads and eBay. And the last bit of advice I have to offer is to be patient collecting your parts.

Thanks guys, for all the advice!

Here is one of my ideas. Again, I'll be doing all the wrench turning and soldering:)

'98 Mark VIII 32 valve mod motor
T-45 tranny
4.10 gears
Black Magic cooling fan
JMS chip (to eliminate PATS and squeeze a few more ponies out)

Another would be to just bolt on a Procharger P1SC w/intercooler but I wouldn't get the gears or one bad ass looking motor under the hood out of the deal.

Opinions?

Thanks!!!

Do it  my Dad has a 93 Mark 8 same engine but i'm sure with less up grades. That thing pulls, and Is a lot heavier I kept up with a 96 cobra until he went into 4th. The engine has about 250,000 miles on it and still runs perfect
