My friend has A 1990 IROC Camaro. He's putting A 383 stroker motor in his car. All I have is a 1998 GT with ud pullies,off-road h pipe, 3.37 gears, and P.I. swap " heads, cams intake ". What can I do to out run him. Thank you for your suggestions.

Is he doing suspension also? Get a nice suspension setup, nice tires and blower or 100 shot with full exhaust and you will be able to take him easily. With the PI headswap I would recommend nitrous since your compression is so high, but if u want to build it go ahead and put the forged dished pistons in there and blow it.

also if you don't have one already a short shifter, because he won't miss a shift in his auto (assuming its an auto, cause i think all irocs are).

Not trying to be a smart @$$, but I think with those minor bolt ons that you have, you are going to get your @$$ handed to you. 4.10s are going to help, but that 383 is going to make a ton of torque that is going to get him up and running with you out of the gate. That shot of nitrous is going to help but you are working with about 270-280HP. With that hit of NOS you are looking at about 370-380, you are going to be making a little more than what he is making on motor alone.
If he is putting that motor in it, please believe he is going to add a lot of other go fast goodies also, headers, exhaust, gears, cams, probably have the heads ported also. He'll probably get suspension parts also because he knows that he is going to have that thing hooking.
I don't think you are going to beat him with just a shot of gas and bolt ons. You are going to definitely need a blower, be it supercharger or turbo. Good luck, but you are going to spend some money if you are going to beat him. Let us know how it goes...

Thank you for all your replies. He is putting long tube headers and full exhaust, but no porting to the heads and he's keeping the stock 3.23 gears in the car. What I think I'm going to do is try nitrous and see what happens. Any advice on which nitrous kit would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks again.
