well, i have some money for some mods, but i am torn on which to do. any opinions would be appreciated. the choices are:
a: Saleen suspension kit, b: California Dream hood, c:wheels/tires, or d: gears & xcal2.
help me out. thanks

Hey Bigcat,

Before I vote, ? >>> What do you feel is your most important goal with the $ - Modifications or Appearance Alterations?

Just wondering...Once I know that, then I'll vote...

Jenn

i dunno, i want it to look good and go fast. either way, it will get done, just not all at once. wheels really stand out. the hood adds some aggresion. the suspension doesnt look much different, a little lower maybe, but handles better. the gears and xcal 2 definately make it go fast. i dont really have a favorite yet, thats why i am asking for opinions.

I say go with the mods that make the car faster b4 the appearence mods. Thats just me though cause I dont like looking faster w/o being able to back it up a little if I needed/wanted to. Or you could go with the wheels first to dress it up a bit and give it more bite for a better launch. but thats only my opinion or $.02. No matter what you do have fun with it.

My first (major) mod I think will be a Roush suspension kit...

so I voted for your Saleen kit. I figure don't do wheels until you know the clearance you'll have after the suspension kit, and otherwise the car is already plenty fast.

After that I'd do either brakes or a touchscreen nav stereo replacement unit :nice:

i was looking around online for some wheels. i found some sweet wheels but:

20x8.5 with +20mm offset and 20x10 with +52mm offset

for those with rims, dont these offsets sound funny? i thought most were running closer to a +30mm offset?

The car in stock form already handles better than most people will ever push it. With a competition alignment it will handle even better. Handling is out.

Wheels and Tires - the stock Bullet mags that come on the car were, by far, the most chosen wheel for the Mustang in surveys as well as purchases in the aftermarket. Of course if you want to try and mix old school looks with the Bling-Bling, that's your game - not mine. Wheels are out. Tires - on the other hand - a set of 255's for the rear wouldn't be hard to take..

The Hood - well, since I've made my own mod in this department - I can't say a whole lot bad about it.. It would easily set your car apart from the rest of the crowd - be aware though that many of these fiberglass hoods require a TON of body work to make them look like they came on the car instead of just an appendage.

Gears and Xcal - While I don't think this car really needs deeper gears (1st gear is almost worthless as it is with the 3.55's in the car) - the Xcal would help in a number of areas.

My vote is ........

Hood.

Alright Bigcat, I can help spend your money then. LOL.... I voted Gears and X-Cal2

Enjoy!

What she said - it will make the most difference in the overall feel of the car from the drivers seat!!

Besides - you wouldn't want to be just another pretty face in the crowd!

Hey bigcat,

Get the tune done and gears in and then meet me at Thunderhill Raceway in Nor-Cal for a HPDS meet 11/11/05. Your car will be much more fun for me to drive than my six will (and remember the extra set of Performance Friction Brake Pads for me :) ) :nice:

humph! No option in the poll for attaching a hang glider to the rear and putting a bubbled type R sticker on the side.. I am offended!

ah shucks, I can't stay mad... wheels and tires was one of my first mods... just so she wouldn't look the same as the rest. But, gears and a tune would be my choice... you'll dig the performance increase, I'm sure.

But, here's a thought... locally, I've rarely seen V6's or GT's with exhaust work. Lovely chrome tips really make the rear end look mean... a simple and cheap mod if you just go for the tips. (obviously more if ya go with an axle or cat-back).

i already have the flowmaster axle backs. had them sine April. i was one of the first to have them, because before they were even in stock anywhere, i had them drop shipped from flowmaster. i waited for that release date, but nobody had them. but, i could order and wait a month, or have them drop shipped, like i did. it was a great investment, very happy with the sound!
